To avoid the possibility of trolls trying to get ahead in the last minute gold, when the game ends scores are final, no xp can be earn't but the gold get's a chance to fall. At lower ranks 1000 crystals is quite a bit, enough to get a new turret or hull of your choice, at these ranks if you have found the gold and no one else has and the game ends it really sucks. I really support this idea and hope it gets used :) +1
