You can see that their tactic has been changed since around the separation of the paint and protection as you noted, or even in the earlier time when they ruined the MU by removing the individual item MU. They changed to only care how to grab more money from those who are willing to (and not care) spend hundreds even thousands dollars a month. Think about it, only a few hundreds may be a thousand of these big spending players would be enough for them. These players are what they care, not normal players like us; not just non-buyers but also those who spend a little money on this game. It is not only pay-to-win; it is pay-a-lot-to-win. This update makes the battle outcomes totally randomized. It doesn't matter of skills or tactics. The only way to be sure to win is to pay and buy. There is no fun for non-buyers but very fun for buyers.
