Developers could have handle this perfectly by adding extra shot effects to the shop and containers, and leave the old ones as free by upgrading the modification levels for turrets. Everyone gonna be happy. Their greed will be back with opposite results, as many players feel like cheated by taking away their shot effects and force them to either play with M0 shot effects or buy containers to get them back.
