Actually, Arceus' ability let's it change its type depending on held plate. That means it can turn into a flying, psychic, or fairy type and easily defeat the Machamp. Plus, Arceus knows Future Sight, which is a 120 base power move that would most likely one-shot any Machamp. Torchic can't defeat Articuno because Torchic is underevolved and its base stats are way lower than Articuno's.
