What Is Your Opinion About the Current State of Tanki Online?
triglav replied to TheCongoSpider in Game Discussion
Every map should be balanced, of course. I use to have over 20 kills in Highways regulary with sniper, but those days are gone. There have been many changes and there's lots of protection under the roads for all kinds of tanks. Same should go for other bigger maps too. They should provide balance, though it can be expected, not all maps can be balanced equally for all turrets or hulls. However, if I use sniper, I at least know that 95% of my shots will cause damage, with magnum you don't know. Even if you accept the wall restriction, there are quick decisions to be made in close combat and if you can't count on every shot, then you're dead. -

This video should be final. It perfectly shows what's the problem. If the wall is low enough, so that algo perceives magnum has clear eye of sight, shot that's close enough will cause damage. If you should over a wall that is tall enough to cover you, there will be no damage no matter how many times or how accurate your shot is. There are no exceptions in this video, zero damage shots are several in a row or as much as I could do before being attacked from different sides. -

You have to be far enough from a wall. For example, use 25 deg angle, find a wall tall enough to cover you and then start shooting directly next to a wall, then go back away from the wall and you'll see at what point your shots will start doing damage. You can be closer to the wall if you use higher deg angle, but not always. I could be in your game and show you the same. Next time you try it, just go closer to the wall and you'll see at which point not one single shot will work. They should explain that in describtion of the turret. And of course magnum is becoming obsolete. They already eliminated biggest maps that used to be a lot of fun, most maps are now small, where magnum doesn't have any advantage being long range turret, but since it's been additionally nerfed, it's obvsiously owner's wish to phase it out. I still think if that's their true intention, they should let users cash out everything they put in magnum and can put it something else. -

it works for some, obviously, not for me. I have 300mg line with 1ms ping and good pc. However, you're shooting at 40deg angle, sometimes it allows damage at that angle, but not always. I could show you even more ridiculous cases where there's no defending it. Same with spawning. 80% of the time I spawn in my camp, it will be right next to enemy short range turret if it is in our spawn region. You can even see if he kills me how the camera follows tank that killed me and puts me back in front of him just far enough for him to see me spawning and come get me. Many times I saw camera changing direction right after that tank changed direction. How to explain that? That's no leg, that's no glitch... And that usually happened once I got to 10:1 kill ratio. They took care of it by fixing me to get killed 2 or 3 times quickly in a row. Interestingly though, Immediatelly when I changed turred to short range, I was never again spawned next to an enemy, alwas at the distance. There are obviously huge problems with the game that are intentional and not glitches. You saw how many shots I made landed with not only zero effect, there was no mine on the floor either. Also I can tell you what some of your shots didn't work. At the point where you wrote no excuse you turned left and in that direction the wall was too close. In other directions you were either far enough from the wall or your angle was higher. Now, the problem here is that no one set any clear rules. Thus you are in a game where you don't know if your shots will work or not. What if you play rubgy and you have only one chance to stop the enemy before reaching the goal and your team relies on you? Well, it's a lottery and that's not a game, it's biased fix that eliminates magnum from the game. -

I had 14 out of 15 shots with zero effect, almost entire game. Many of them were clear line of sight, basicly few meters away. When even those shots don't get through, there's no point in playing anymore. -

@asem.harbi In your video you shot away from the house (not wall) and at higher angle, perhaps it wasn't considered in line of sight. Which is even more ridiculous. You didn't see your enemy, you didn't target, so it was again more a speculative luck than actually being in the game. However, meanwhile it has been answered. There is in fact a problem with magnum, quoting another user: Magnum shot cannot deal damage if it does not have a direct line of sight (e.g. fire the shot behind building or wall). People are complaining in the Complaint Book . This perfectly sums up my experience and as it has been shown, magnum is not made for duel in line of sight, because it is reloading much slower and is far less accurate exactly for the reason it was supposed to be able to shoot from behind the wall. Every fight in line of sight magnum will lose, unless the enemy is short range turret and the distance is big enough for magnum to start doing damage early. I even tried to play that way, but there are situations where you simply have to shoot or be destroyed 3 seconds later, but the games perceives the shot not being in line of sight and it's again zero damage. This has been going on for far too long and has with time only increased, so it's clearly intentional attempt to somehow nerf magnum. However, this makes the whole concept of magnum completely stupid. -

@yellowghetto That was my point, they destroyed magnum completely, if you can't shoot over the wall, what's the point of parabolic shot. If they don't want magnum to be in the game they should just return the crystals and let players buy something else. -

@wolverine848 watch this and let me know, if you see a pattern. If I weren't hitting them, my shots would leave a mine on the floor. If there's no mine, then what happened? -

No, the talk is about what needs more skills and magnum is by far more difficult than freeze. I hope we don't have to have that discussion. Of course, so that balance should be that you are able to kill them from a far. I will obviously have to make a video so that you'll see what I see. You don't get it. Magnum not only doesn't have any help in aiming, it has the opposite. I fired 6 times and got 3 different lenghts. 3! Same position, same angle and power. It deliberatelly ruins your aim, is there another turret that has that? Yes, it would make sense. Specially since magnum doesn't shoot in an instant, so that it would be your fault. It takes seconds to fire and in that time someone even from your team can bump in you to change direction of shot (can be in the wall) or he can simply jump in front of you and thus cause you suicide. It should be about your skills, not luck or bad luck. How is that better for magnum? That doesn't make any sense. The only drawback of certain turret can be fixed with an addon. There is nothing fixing negative sides of magnum. This can't be compared. No, I never claimed to be lag, that's what others claim, it's not a lag. In your video you are not shooting from behind a wall. All your shots have angle way above. Try again in some other room and try being just behind a wall over which you can shot with, lets says 25 angle and then hit anything, if you can. Leg would be show with damage shown later, but it never is. Tank being hit TWICE directly comes up to me with full health. If there were a leg, then a mine would've shown later, even a minute later, but it never does, so it's not a lag, we don't have an agreement at all. In this video you can clearly see that only damage done is when it's not shot over the wall. This wasn't real playing, just trying to get situations to show what is the problem with magnum. I had cases where I could show over the wall whole game waiting to make at least one shot with some damage. It was probably only when I shot from a different angle and then it was allowed. I also made a case how I have to come around the wall to actually cause damage on the other castle, but of course I get killed immediatelly. Also look at the damage done when it's not over the wall, without extra it's basicly around 450. How many times I would have to hit a tank with that damage? So many times that he would have time to regenerate. So this is not a lag, it's not a bug, this had to be made intentionally, however, it also destroys the whole concept of playing with magnum. It's like thunder with parabolic shot without turning the turret. -

@asem.harbi I played all other turrets. I began mostly with shaft. Are isida, firebird or freeze hard to use? No. Once you're in range you destroy enemy in a second. What about midrange? All have some sort of auto aim, helping a lot. Thunder has a lot of splash, I'd guess more than magnum, considering how many times I've been destroyed by thunder despite hiting far from me. Many times smokey will destroy me in 3 quick shots. How is that a small caliber turret? If I measure time needed for causing lets say 3000 points damage, magnum is now the easily slowest. i just checked playing with vulcan again, it's low grade, but it''s still comically easy to use. Even when you move you just simply direct your turret to a target and then software kicks in autoaim and that's it. If it's mark7 target is dead in two second. So lets compare vulcan to magnum. Both were supposed to have trade offs. Magnum can have splash (which was lowered), had most damage done (which was lowered significantly plus damage caused is calculated differently every time - judging only from direct hits on hull), but you couldn't move turret sideways, no autoaim, distance depends on how accurate you set the angle and power, both have to be operated all the time, you could shoot over walls, but there was a long reload and self harm where you could destroy yourself if other tank happened to drive in front of you just when you wanted to shoot. Vulcan could destroy you in seconds, has autoaim, can move turrets, but it was supposed to have limited active time to prevent burning. Now there are adjusments where vulcan can shot whole game without self burning, meaning main obstacle for vulcan has been removed, but the only plus for magnum, shooting over walls, has been taken away. How is that comparable? I can hit tanks directly on the head 20 times in a row, but if the shot was over any kind of wall, damage is zero. There is no lag. Should've shown you a video. I can shoot certain tank, lets say twice over the wall and it has zero damage, then I move from behind a wall to face the tank directly and then there's immediatelly damage when I hit him. If there were any kind of lag from previous shots, third shot should've killed him, but it doesn't. He easily then continues and destroys me in seconds. So the question is why did they change this? When we moved from flash there wasn't this problem in html5 at the beggining, they slowly started to increase numbers of duds. Why? Why magnum can no longer cause damage while shooting over an obstacle? Vulcan can now have riccochet effect and can destroy you from behind the wall, magnum can't. Thunder can have a splash and kill you without a direct hit, magnum can't. Do you know how i know there's no lag? Because i use mine shells and you can clearly see when one appears on the floor and when not. I can test by shooting from various points and see. Every time I don't shoot over the wall, the mine is there. Thus this is not a glitch, it's a deliberate decision by owners to nerf magnum, but in the process they killed it completely. Now they reward less skilled players and punish most skilled one. Unless you'll try to convince me that me hitting at an angle 25 with power 70 (so you know how far it will fly) a fast moving target (any small hull with double speed) requires same ammount of skill as with shooting with vulcan or any other autoaim long distance turret. I did try to play all turrets early on and magnum seemed to demand most skills, so it became my default turret for fun. Now hitting same target five times and cause no damage is not fun anymore. -

@wolverine848 What would you say if I showed you a video how many small hulls easily survive direct hits by magnum? What if I showed how I hit approaching tank 3 times in a row directly on the head, but there's zero damage? What would you think of the game then? -

You obviously haven't played magnum. Vulcan auto aimes and is not able to shoot nonstop plus has a ricochet. It cen destroy my tank in two seconds. There's nothing you can do with magnum in two seconds. And comparing magnum vs vulcan skills is a joke. With magnum you have to quickly change the aim, choose the right power and anticipate shot seconds in advance, with vulcan you just point and shoot. With magnum game deliberately changes your aim and makes it worse. for same setup on 3 exactly the same shots if will give you 3 different lenghts so much apart, that only one will cause damage to the target. Not to mention that nerfing where it causes no damage at all despite the perfect shot. -

@wolverine848 using hunter hull, but it doesn't matter. By forbidden I mean if you shoot over an obstacle, your shot will probably have zero effect. I shot 10 times in a row and got the direct hit but zero effect. As soon as I went around the obstacle and shot again, it had an effect. So that's the forbidden part. Now if we go to the ******ed part, it's that someone thought it would be great to limit magnums to shooting directly and not over like other turrets. But here's the thing. If I want to come out of the hiding, I need seconds to come out and turn, seconds to aim and launch and that shot then needs another two seconds to land. Every other turret can move in all directions, so hull can come out of the hiding for a second only and you can already shoot. Plus, the game is even helping with your aim. Thus you get no skilled gamer easily defeating highly skilled magnum user. Not to mention the time needed to reload. Every turrent will destroy magnum in seconds, magnum needs 15 second to destroy any other tank, of course, is his shots have an effect at all. I used to have from 5 to 10 to 1 ratio in most games, now I am lucky if I am even. I can shoot at certain tanks all game and have zero effect. This is one of the most low IQ changes in this game. -

That's the point. Magnum requires most skill and they killed it. Now turrets that need least skill are dominating the game. I can make unbelieavable shot across whole room, hitting fast moving tank so hard it almost flips, just few meters before scoring a goal, but there's zero damage and my team loses. Where's the incentive to use magnum? Every other turret has some kind of aiming help, magnum has the opposite, it ruins your aim, even if your skills are 100% accurate. I don't get the reason for doing this. Magnum users are now playing lottery instead of tanks. -

No, it's not a glitch, I tested it. If I shoot from certain locations that the games has now decided to be forbidden, I can shoot and hit tanks whole game without any damage. If I come around from the wall it will immediatelly create damage with each shot. So it's not a glitch, it's a feature now and it's making whole turret pointless. Even if they tried to prevent camping, they did the opposite. Now every other turret can camp and now there's no turret to make them move, before at least magnum could do it. They took away the only good feature of magnum and kept all the worst ones. If they at least shorten the reload time or something else, one would try to understand, but right now that's just silly.
