Find the little panel on the underside? I doubt it's functional; I was just kidding in my post. The [Low] Gravity DM causes flips to sometimes occur slowly. Look on the underside of your tank or nearby tanks.

Found it! Thanks!

Why do we always self-destruct when we turn over? Several times, I've rolled 360 degrees or in some other way landed on my feet. But the self-destruct clock was already ticking. I once even got off another shot and killed an opponent before self-destructing. Also, why do some tanks not self-destruct? I've observed one turn upside down, I keep shooting at other tanks, I get knocked over and self-destruct, but that other tank is still sitting upside down.

Love the special mode Gravity DM! As I spend a lot of time spinning and bouncing around, I've noticed a little panel on the underside my Wasp that looks like it's removable. Is that where the batteries go? ?

Still trying to figure out scoring
seasap replied to seasap in Still trying to figure out scoring Archive
I have two areas of questions about when I hit another tank. First, the score is sometimes a few thousand points, but other times just a few hundred points. Is it thousands of points because the other tank was more formidable, had a higher gear score, and the few hundred points on a different tank because that tank was a newbie? Or are the points based on how much damage? In other words, more points if I 90% killed him, and fewer points if I only scratched his paint? Second, when I kill another tank, the score is orange or red, and it appears I get those points immediately. But other times the score is white and the other tanks survives but is only damaged. Is that because white scores is the portion I will get when someone else finishes the kill? And how long is my assist score still earnable? Does someone else have to finish him off within a certain amount of time? What if the tank I hit uses repair kit or a teammate heals him? Do I never get those white points? -
I recall the sale on purchasing hulls and turrets on the 25th and 26th, but I don't recall a sale on Mk upgrades. I thought Mk upgrades would be included in today's upgrades, and right now, I don't even see discounts on micro upgrades.
-
What happened to the 50% off upgrades? This thread said: I bought some supplies, but was really saving to upgrade my hull and turret. But today, there are no discounts on upgrades.
-
Well that certainly sounds like what happened. Only I did not choose TJR. I chose TDM. But it wouldn't be the first time the system has dropped me into a battle other than what I chose.
-
I thought it was straight TDM, but I had noticed some different sound effects. Still, to become the new Juggernaut, don't I have to kill the old Juggernaut? I hadn't killed anyone, rather I had been killed.

I just had an out-of-tank experience.

Something weird just happened. I play with Shaft on a Viking. I was in TDM and got killed. When I respawned, I had Twins on some other massive hull, neither of which I own. Weirder still, when I fired, my shots were from a Railgun. While I tried to figure out how to fire Railgun from Twins while trying to drive some unknown hull, I got killed again. Then I respawned as my old self, Shaft on Viking. What a trip! -
What is the music in the garage and snowball fight?

I know is says Music by Vospi, and I followed the link. But that artist has a huge repertoire. Can you tell me the name of the piece? Thanks! -
Can you get kill credit for pushing an opponent off the map?
seasap replied to seasap in Can you get kill credit for pushing an opponent off the map? Archive
I recently pushed an opponent in a lighter-weight hull off a cliff into the edge-of-map minefield where he blew up. Do I get kill credit for that as if I had shot him? -
Ah, Isida. That's a special case. Thanks for the info.

Playing TDM. Here are some scores: Teammate: Field Marshal GS: 5030 Score: 220 Deaths: 8 Lives: 16 D/L: 0.50 Crystals: 447 Stars: 1 Me: Major General GS: 4360 Score: 215 Deaths: 13 Lives: 11 D/L: 1.18 Crystals: 437 Stars: 2 I killed more enemy tanks. I was killed less often. Clearly I outperformed my team mate. How is his score higher than mine? How come he earns more crystals than me? What are Stars? Another example: Teammate: Third Lieutenant GS: 3748 Score: 289 Deaths: 9 Lives: 15 D/L: 0.60 Crystals: 561 Stars: 1 Me: Major General GS: 4360 Score: 225 Deaths: 14 Lives: 2 D/L: 7.00 Crystals: 437 Stars: 2 How is his score higher than mine? How come he earns more crystals than me?

Thanks. Good to know. Does my score has something to do with the gear scores of tanks I kill? Is that how some teammates can have few kills, even more deaths, and still reach a higher score than me?

Some questions on scoring in TDM
seasap replied to seasap in Some questions on scoring in TDM Archive
First, how are assists scored? If you shoot someone and damage them, then a teammate kills them, you supposedly get assist points. How many do you get? Does your teammate get less because you helped them? Is there a time limit after you shoot and your teammate kills? Next, if you fatally wound someone without killing them yet, for example burning, and you get killed before they die, do you still get the kill points after you're dead? Also, do gear scores boost your battle scores? I often see, after the battle ends, teammates with fewer kills and even more deaths than me, scoring much higher than me. They seems to have higher gear scores than me. Do they outscore me because of their higher gear score? At the end of a battle, does the outcome effect your score? Do you score more points when your team wins than when your team loses? -
How long after spawning is a tank immune from hostile fire?
seasap replied to seasap in How long after spawning is a tank immune from hostile fire? Archive
I've noticed, when firing on a newly spawned tank, I score zero damage on them. This immunity goes beyond the point of them switching from transparent to opaque. Yet is seems they are able to fire at me and inflict damage. Obviously, there is some period of time that they are immune to my hits. How long are they immune? Or is there some event on their part that ends their immune period? -
The Hoppers are fun. Pick 'em off when their in the air. Kind of like pheasant hunting.

I've played the nerfed Shaft on a number of maps now. There are a couple where I can do quite will given the slight increase in long-range damage and good hiding places. But most maps are simply unplayable. Too exposed during the long reload. Arcade's not that good and enemy tanks don't outline in red when in my sights on arcade. Maybe I should change my screenname to Sitting Duck. Correction: Enemy tanks DO outline in read when aiming in arcade mode. Don't know why I wasn't seeing that earlier.

Another thing about Shafts and camping and contributing to the mission. I may not kill as many as some of my teammates, but I don't GET killed as much. (I play a lot of Team Deathmatch.) Remember, every time you get killed is a point for the other side. Your 20 kills and 15 deaths mean you net only 5 for the team. My 10 kills and 2 deaths mean I net 8.
-
What? In real life, the military has snipers. Is that immoral? And how can you put down the Shaft players on your team and in the same sentence imply that the Shaft players on the other side are effective against you?
-
OK, I've put some time in on my nerfed Shaft. Some posters are saying the nerf was to discourage camping, and get them into more close-range battles. If anything, I'm camping more. I don't want to venture out because my reload time is too long. So I sit at the back, fire off a shot, duck back into my hiding spot, and go get cup of coffee. If I wanted to get into close-range battles, I wouldn't have purchased Shaft. And the arcade shots aren't that good. I could do better with my old Smokey, but I can't exactly go to the garage and swap turrets when the Freeze that survived my snipe shot is bearing down on me. The only way this will discourage camping is that all the Shaft players quit playing. Shaft was over nerfed. Either set the reload time to a reasonable 4 or 5 seconds or give back the crystals it cost me to get up to Mk5. And if you want to nerf something, how about Tesla. Kill multiple targets from around corners? Come on! But I guess that's a different forum thread.
-
My name is Seasap, and I'm a Shafter. It's my favorite turret. Maybe WAS. I didn't know about the nerfing until I was actually playing. I'd fire in sniper mode, duck behind my hiding spot, go back out for another, and ... ? Why isn't it going into sniper mode? Then I noticed how long it was taking to reload. I admit that I've noticed a slight increase in damage I can inflict, but that doesn't overcome a whole 10 seconds to reload. Shaft already had a built-in disadvantage to deal with in that it couldn't move in sniper mode. You'd have to sit for a moment exposed while it charged up, unlike Railgun which can pull the trigger and time the delayed firing to duck out from cover just in time then duck back in. I don't have a garage-full of other turrets, and have been investing crystals to upgrade my Shaft to M5. Can I get my crystals back so I can go buy a Gauss and upgrade it to M5? As for drones, I don't have any. They give away your hiding spots. If I'm in Shaft sniper mode, focusing on a Railgun with a drone behind a wall, I can see his (her?) drone moving back and forth, and know which side he's going to come out on to shoot at me. Railguns with drones are easy to pick off, same with other turrets. Railguns without drones are my nemesis. Tell me, do the advantages of a drone overcome this? As for Archipelago, that map was impossible for a Shafter. Whenever it would load, I'd immediately bail.

Thanks, Iron_Man, for merging. I didn't find a previous discussion on this. -

I like to change the settings when I play. But they aren't retained next time I log in to play. Can you make setting stick based on our account? Sorry for multiple submissions. Computer buggy today.
