Anti-Cheat feedback

This anti-cheat system is not working out to well. Since its implementation game performance has gone down the tubes, and it hasn't worked at all.

We now have flying tanks and tanks that can grab flags lightening fast.

At some point Tanki needs to realize they can't stay ahead of the hackers and just start bringing on a larger volume of admins to quick deal with these issues.

I applied for a moderator role and received no response. I could have had more than a handful of these individuals removed from the game by now.

The first line of defense in managing corrupt users is game moderators, NOT a cheat engine which impacts game play and doesn't work.

I have seen the "lightning capers" too and I have to say, they more than ruin a good and fair game, pretty instantly.

I would actually prefer the Isida hackers to these flag hackers.

A larger volume of admins won't solve it any faster than the anti-cheat. :|

The only accepted, are friends of moderators.

You also must be 21, with Skype.

In my opinion the anti-cheat has done a fine work in removing the Isida hackers, but it needs to be tweaked a little so that the "flying tanks" and "lightning capers" are removed as well.

So your saying that if crime exists, that more police won't help to curb the crime?

Let me give you an example of how anti-cheats are always behind the criminals. Drug testing.

Peformance enhancing drugs are a profitable business. Everyday they are coming out with new undetectable drugs that can gone unseen with an "anti-cheat" engine called a drug test.

What would work signficantly better than continually trying to keep up with criminals staying ahead of any anti-cheat mechanism would be people assigned to uphold the rules.

Same thing applies within this game young man. (I am assuming you are a young individual because you have an air of naivete associated with your comments)

So in a nutshell, you are completely incorrect in saying that an anti-cheat engine would be a replacement for more sworn officers of the rules of the game. Anti-cheats usually lag behind advancements in cheating and can only be employed when they can be proven 100% successful against a given cheat.

Unless you have a magic crystal ball, and can somehow figure out ever single flaw and how many different exploitations of those flaws along with prioritizing them in the order that they will occur without sacrificing advancements to possible later version of this game, I think you are kidding yourself.

Just doesn't work effectively, EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

make friends with someone thats already a mod. suck up to them for a few months, tell them they are king and get them to get you a mod position. also helps if you are a kid that has aspirations of future, behind the keyboard megalomania..

agree 100% at least 5 times more mods required. 24 servers and even on S1 there isnt a constant mod presence.

You, need to relax.

I simply said more administrators would be less efficient than the anti-cheat.

I never said anything about more moderators, which is exactly what this game needs more of.

The anti-cheat is flawed, I agree; even the Tanki team itself is calling for more moderators.

But if the anti-cheat is tweaked so that all hacks are impossible, then more officers would not be needed...only for individuals who disrupt chat.

But really my friend, there is no need to call me stupid, for I'm not.

That works!

...about 3% of the time. :P

Can you tell me how many mods got to where they were by sucking up to another mod?

Are you serious? So you like Unlimited isida? With a ghost hack? In stand of a flag hack? *facepalm*

Yes I am serious, but you really must see what I mean, my friend.

It would take a flag hacker only a few instants in order to win game and steal thousands and thousands of crystals in fund, and ruin many players' days.

It would take a bit longer for Isida cheater to do this; plus, Isida cheaters can't teleport and hide in the walls at whim, which the flag hackers can do.

Unless, they had all hacks at once, but that's a different story.

Also, I never said I liked Isida cheat, please stop twisting my words around. :x

Any ways, my opinion of the anti-cheat is so: it does not work that well at the moment, and I think it is the source of this lag that the game has been having recently.

Either improve the anti-cheat system, or summon far far more moderators (NOT administrators) to watch over the game.

One of the only things in which I disagree with Monkey. Seriously, people have tried that.

More moderators can, at the most help you with the Complaints section, cleaning it up faster, keeping the chats clean but I believe it is completely impossible to have enough moderators to keep a lookout over cheaters in all the servers, Honestly. Yes we need a better Anti-Cheat system while we also need a valid barrier between players in a game, A rank limit, different tiers of battles, or something. Why don't you guys give a better idea for the solution that is acceptable? And seriously, a different server for "buyers only" won't be good enough.

i have stated before in the past. its actually incredibly dumb that a mod or admin cant enter a game as a 'ghost' to view violations. as you ask for a solution, i propose that a live flagging system for players to contact mods during games and mods to be able to enter games unseen would really help. also an, 'in game' voting system to pause the game until a mod arrives would really help. lets see hackers hack when the game is paused until a mod arrives. this would also mean that mods would be directed to problem games and therefore use their time more efficiently. if this system was in place i think there would be little or no hacking in the game and even the mult situation could be combated.

for me an anti cheat system is always flawed. its something the devs can never win. a patch is applied and then hackers work away at finding a new way to beat the system 'ad infinitum'. i dont know for sure either, but it seems more than a coincidence that since the anti cheat system has been in place the game has been lagtastic.

there thats my 2 pence worth. can it be that hard to implement the changes i suggest? no harder than implementing the failed cheat system surly?

I'll agree its dumb and I'll just let you know that the idea is not new, I don't know what is stopping it from being made but what I do know is that it is possible given that people can be "invisible" because of a glitch, maybe use the glitch as a hint...

The in-game reporting has also been suggested, same as above. You cannot just blame the moderators, we try our best when someone lets us know in the chat or over Skype, but we can't help if we don't know its happening. Maybe its time to start complaining to the developers?

Anti cheat systems can never be perfect, Hackers will always find week spots in the code and its not possible to cover over everything. What we need is a little more "abilities" or "tools" on the moderator's hands. As we lack them, a simple kick and a chat ban is all that we use. :)

i wasnt having a go at the mods in my previous post. as for complaining to the devs- where is the forum section regarding suggestions to devs and feedback? the game isnt set up to listen to the players is it?

anyway back to the mod situation. as it stands the job that mods have to do is nothing more than a total joke. until things change as discussed above then frankly its an ineffective thankless task that the mods have. i see hardly any value in even having mods at this moment in time, given as you put it the tools you have at hand. perhaps 1% of violations ranging from swearing bullying abuse to hacking and multing are caught and punished imo. thats a harsh indictment of a massively failing system.

so we have the mods crying for a better system, players do the same. will the devs listen and make the required changes as a matter of utmost urgency? going by previous timescales of implementing changes (or not) im not going to hold my breath thats for sure. in the meantime we will all just struggle on with a dirty feeling of getting raped by the game owners.

MM.

The resolution is more moderators. Quite frankly the requisites to become a moderator are far too stringent.

For example, I don't use skype. I don't like it on my machine when I have any other compute intensive applications on my machine. I use ventrilo if I want to chat with other players in other games.

So I am disqualified.

At some point someone needs to get realistic about the problem and the resolution. I hang out on different servers all the time, and log some time in this game because it is the only one I play right now.

I am pretty good about sticking the rules of the game, yet I can't even get a sniff at a moderator position?

Seriously, at some point someone needs to realize that anti-cheat engines are only going to catch already recognized exploits in the system.

I would say a good rule of Thumb is 3 moderators per server per language.

That would make the number of moderators required just for the English speaking group around 75.

Right now there are 3 maybe 4.

Seriously?

Anyone with half a bit of common sense can figure out a resolution to the problem, add more chat and in-game moderators. The answer can't be any more clear.

@MM, I agree with you on that, and yes, All servers crashed.

As for getting our messages to the developers, the English Community really needs some admins, consultants etc etc w/e they call them, idc. But their sole purpose should be to crawl the forums for Ideas and giving them to the Devs. Not to mention the Homepage needs a better "Polls" Instead of these why not have questions like what do you want next in the game...

I'll see what I can do in this matter and its not much...

@eessydo, we have a total of 6 Moderators/Candidates excluding me as at the moment of typing this I'm not a chat mod.

6 =/= 76.

There are currently more servers than moderators?

The math stinks.

You would think the wizards that invented this game would understand the need for eyes in the game to prevent cheats / hacks. Especially when there are large break outs of an exploit.

Right now the solutions is an ineffective cheat engine that has caused game play issues. Wouldn't it just be easier to have 3 people assigned to each server and start a massive eradication project each time this happens?

Answer = yes

It is also cheaper as your currency is in-game credit, NOT a salary for a developer to fix the issue.

Your total cost per hour probably will float under $1 USD per hour per person, vs. a salary that costs you around $40USD an hour to make a cheat engine work.

It is like nobody has any business sense inside of tanki.

So three guys at $40USD/hr = $120 / hr for a Cheat engine that doesn't work and a downgrade in availability and performance for paying customers

75 moderators @ >$1USD/hr = $75 / hr for people to come on and eradicate the issue systematically.

Guys, it is not that hard.

Business case made.

dont see what ur gripe is about not getting the mod 'job' cos you dont have skype. if you need to communicate with everyone else using skype and you cant or wont use it then thats your problem.

There is a reason you got a permanant ban from the CC, you know - maybe that same reason might also stop you from being a suitable moderator in Tanki?

Monkey, Communication can take many forms. Skype is just one, and based on what I have seen not required to be effective at a this job. Simple documentation would suffice, and the forum's PM tool are more than enough.

The gripe is that it is unnecessary.

Stirring the pot is accurate Monkey. Skitee, the internet is an anonymous place and those are two disparate sites. My behavior over there has absolutely no bearing on my behavior over here. My track record on this site is near spotless.

You need to grow up.
