Turning turret rant

This is something I've thought a lot about.

In countless dueling situations when I, as a railer, am moving around trying not to get hit during the cooldown of the gun, my opponent fail to kill me even when he has several chanses. Why? Because he is not following me with his gun and moves around corners like some WW2 tank destroyer that has its gun fixed to the hull. Why on earth, when you know someone is waving an M3 railgun at you on the other side of that corner, do you take the time to move out the lenght of your tank before turning the whole thing to start shooting? By that time I have already fired and started moving away to the next corner.

If we're in the open and I'm driving hornet it's sometimes pretty easy to stay behind the opponent as he/she tries to turn the way I'm driving, because it hasn't occured to the other that you get to shoot earlier if you turn both hull and gun.

Okay, I understand that newbies has some playing to do to get the finesses of the game, but I see this behaviour in warrant officers and lieutenants. I'm especially baffeled at other railgun players doing this, whose survival sometimes depend upon being able to dart out from behind a wall and shoot really quickly at that annoyingly good smokey, who screws upp your aim and leave you frustrated beyond comparison in a burning hull.

Anyway, how is it that some people don't use Z and X when they could play so much better if they did?

It's not like its a lot of keys to keep track of. I constantly move my gun around, keeping the aim at my target(or where I think he is) at all times. Also, when running with a flag back to headquarters, it can be good to turn the turret around to check what the angry mob chasing you is up to(and to put a well placed slug in that hornet/freeze who seems to always appear from nowhere and deny you your right to wave his flag) without having to stop.

I believe you should treat your hull and gun as a team, working together but at the same time doing their own thing. And if you know the map good enough you can focus on shooting enemies who is not in front of you while speeding around.

For some guns, it's easier to just turn the whole tank, as the gun would rotate much too slowly for any good effect in a fastpaced battle.

This is especially true for M0 Railgun, M0 Shaft, M0 Ricochet, and M0 Thunder.

Otherwise, they just prefer to turn the tank instead of the gun.

Maybe they are too lazy to use the two extra buttons.

And when a freeze freezes you, you must turn with your tank and your turret to the freeze ;)
