The first statistics on the cleaning up of cheaters

I too have been cheated by TANKI's nazi algorithm robot. I HAVE NOT CHEATED, I DIDNT EVEN KNOW YOU COULD CHEAT, surely cheating defeats the object of the game. I want my crystal purchases refunded or my account un blocked.

I was leveling up quickly to get hornet as fast as bullcrap :wink: , but then connection was closed by server somehow. :?

I restarted the game and got the message: Your account was suspendend for cheating. :shock: :shock: :shock:

I think you'd be interested to know that in recent days, among other measures, we collected statistics and analyzed the activity of players whose rates were guaranteed to differ from the figures which one can get from a fair play. In simpler word, identification of 100% cheaters.

 

In creation of the algorithm of the daily cleaning up of cheaters, we maintained the rule of "do no harm", and the allowable error was left in favor of the player. Then the allowable error was doubled, reducing the likelihood of normal players being mistaken for cheaters to zero.

 

So:

During the first clean-up, 3451 users were blocked, there activity and performance do not coincide with any means possible in the game. Also with this method, we got a list of more than 8000 cheaters who have been blocked already, too, and this confirms the correctness of the algorithm. Cleaning of the base will be done automatically. Algorithm will be adjusted towards narrowing the list. Members who earn crystals in a fair way are naturally excluded from the list.

 

This measure makes shameless direct cheating unprofitable. Other mechanisms are on the way.

BTW - this is not meant insulting but - more you (TOL) talk about cheat-fighting, more cheating is present in battles. You (TOL) just give impression you protect Russian "cheaters". (Russian is meant all ex "CCCP" republic)

If that insulted you, I'm really sorry, but, see, in primary school I was forced to learn Cyrillic letters (not Russian - Serbian), so I know also difference between those alphabets. I don't claim all cheater and saboteur are Russian and aren't also other nations, but whenever they've written anything in in-game-chat was in Russian Cyrillic letters. And be sure - I put a lot of attention in those things, when I get impression there's cheating present. I'm just sorry I don't understand Russian well enough and I also read very slowly. Otherwise would be more fun...

 

So... I have direct suggestions for you.

 

For cheat-hunting:

- Make on forum a "Hall of shame" and put there all that cheater and reasons as well. It seems your "cleaning" has some "bugs" and it seems there's really possibilities innocent players are banned.

- Since blocking cheater by nick is more or less useless, block cheater by their "MAC address" and lock them that way, since IP is changing at dynamic access, but MAC address doesn't - this will drastically reduce cheating since they won't be able to open new account and really make it unprofitable. Until you don't prevent cheater to open new account, fight against them is hopeless. (Since TOL haven't tried that way yet, that unpleasant impressions occur)

 

For sabotage preventing:

- Change rules! Ban for sabotaging should be 2 month! Ban for a day is a joke! It just encourage dishonest people/asociations to do that, giving them opportunities stealing huge funds of crystals and being banned for a day for that is "lucrative business". So few connected dishonest people can circle and stealing finds. On other side that make honest players feel stupid. Do you really want that?

 

I hope you will take my words in positive way to improve things in contentment of honest players and improvement of your (TOL) image.

i don't know a simple Cyrillic letter, but the majority of players in TO came from that zone, then is more likely that majority of cheaters came from that zone too.

 

From cheat hunting: A MAC address is a unique number that's assigned to every ethernet network interface. But no one can ensure that is unique, its impossible, to many manufacturers, the professionals forums explain this point well, mac is only unique in theory. The mac can be override by soft, its more difficult than simple change Ip address, but still possible. But the real problem is not that, look at this

"The MAC address is used by the network to identify which piece of hardware a packet of information is to be sent to. In other words, it's used only on connections from one piece of networking equipment to the next. That means that when information leaves your computer it has your computer's MAC address, but when it arrives at your router that MAC address is removed."(Take from the web, im not the author, just quoting) In other words, after the data pass through many servers, your mac dissapear. Tanki(and nobody has) the power to change the way of IPv4 works. Sadly, mac address is it not the answer either.

This automatic blocking is failing spectacularly.

 

I'm 12000 points away from Marshal so I was working hard the last few days. Today I found out with utter disgust that my account was blocked.

 

Obviously the algorithm needs to be re-looked at, since innocent people playing fairly are also being blocked!!

 

I already sent an email but god knows when they will reply..

 

This was a week ago. My account was mysteriously unlocked after 2 days, didn't hear anything from "customer service" but today I was surprised to find a message from them.

So..what did it say?

What exactly is your problem?

I'm sure filtering out the cheaters has and is a monumental task, I notice that the group I hang out with on server 2 is banding together to help rid us of these dirtbags. I believe with vigilence , the cheaters will find that the good players on server 2 have adopted the policy that cheaters WILL NOT BE TOLERATED HERE.

 

It will be and is just like a real war and will still be a long time coming to catch and filter out these people but in the long run will restore Tanki back to the way it was created to be a fun, fair game of skill.

 

Those that get banned unjustly, will get their accounts restored because the truth always stands alone and on its own feet, where by the cheaters will not be able to prove anything except that they are there due to unfair advantage.

 

Don't get discouraged people and keep a close eye and REPORT SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY, take screen shots and report, report, report!
