An opinion for blocking cheater

I have a suggestion for you to block the cheaters and the hackers :!:

My suggestion is IP BAN If we can do that the cheater user will be hard to registered again.

isn't that easy, not every body has a real Ip address, the schools, enterprises, labs, etc share the same ip or ip addresses space, asigned by DHCP "randomly"(you can read about that if you want), so if they do what you propose, for one cheater maybe you're blocking all of players at the same school. Depending on your Internet Service Provider, even in your house, not always have the same ip, sometimes they're assign the ip dynamic, so your ip change every time you connect. Besides, its very easy change your ip address without tech knowledge(if you know about computers its even easier), just using proxys, vpn programs, even nets like Thor. Finally, all of those players that cheat using programs, only need to download the newest version because for skilled programers its easy change the ip address(not the real asigned to you, but the other appear in tanki's server). Sadly the ip ban isn't feasible.

Tankcalm is correct. Not only that, but if your IP address were static, there are tons of places on the internet that you can google that can hide your IP address. So yes, it's just not feasible!

Ok, Lets implement IP bans, then what?

 

One of your neighbour uses your WiFi and hacks, IP gets banned. Not just him but even you can't play Tanki using your own WiFi, You did nothing wrong :)

 

Another scenario, Someone uses the school network to hack a game, IP gets banned. No one can ever play Tanki from that School network.

I've just came back online for a play after a while away, and played a game in which there were two hackers (or wa*kers as I call them). One was stealing flags, the other was inside a building and couldn't be shot. It wrecked the game. I've paid a bit of money into this game (including for my boy), and hence have an expectation that this can't happen. Else there's no point in this game anymore. Koolwalky, I've seen a number of your posts, and you seem a decent bloke. Can't you see the frustration all over the boards?? There is an obligation on part of the Tanki 'company' to fix this. Or loose business. Simple.

Viperdog, you might want to put this complaint in a different thread. I've also just posted a thread about this exact same thing. FOUR hackers in one game doing what you just described! I'm ready to take my money and go elsewhere! I've really had it with this!

The problem is, that these things must look easier to implement at the user level but at the developer level these things have drawbacks. Similar to how implemented a "vote-kick" system will always be abused to kick out noobs or the top player in the team.
