Long Text or Short Summaries?

 Share

Recommended Posts

I choose both.

Sometimes short and concise is wise, sometimes long and well-put is good out-put.

It is your decision to make as a reporter, it could be either one depending on what you are writing about.

A smart reporter knows whether to keep it short or draw out the details, and whether or not his audience would read a long text.

Basically long text must be interesting text to keep audience hooked for the entire session!

I myself am not a Reporter of Tanki Online but I have a lot of experience with writing, in a large variety of different situations.

For the internet newbies, TL;DR stands for Too Long; Didn't Read, and yes, the ; is a must!

This is a non-question. In the forum, of course, long text should be cut to a minimum - but in a newspaper, what's the point in a two-sentence article? Even if it sums things up quicker? A newspaper is for people to enjoy reading, and should be targeted at those who do enjoy reading. Why target a newspaper at people who don't enjoy reading? That'd be like targeting tanki at 5-year-old girls.

Incorrect, incorrect, incorrect. The point of a two-sentence article? Everything, if it is enough, it is enough. A newspaper is not for those who love reading, I read it too, I am good at reading school says, but I hate it, and tanki at 5 year old girls?

How is it incorrect? A newspaper should be aimed at those who enjoy reading. You should aim things at the type of people who are more likely to enjoy it - why, for example, would you aim tanki at 5-year-old girls? Will they enjoy it? No. Should we try to make them enjoy it? Probably not, because then you'll be freezing out the people who tanki should be aimed at. Just the same - will people who don't like reading enjoy a newspaper? Of course not. Should we try to make them enjoy it? Of course not, because that'll be freezing out the people who would enjoy the newspaper and it should be aimed at.

Of course you must let them enjoy it, more readers, more fun!

So basically you think that it is better if tanki decide to focus on a game which everyone will enjoy, and bring in pink horses as tanks - just so that five year old girls will enjoy themselves more as well so that tanki will have "more players, more fun"?

I am talking about the newspaper, of course it would not work for Tanki Online itself, but for the newspaper, it is more players more fun.

The logic is the same in both instances. It may gain some players more fun, but at the expense of others. Everything needs to be targeted at a certain demographic of people, and leave out the rest - a thing that tries to include all demographics ends up including no demographics.

If the Long Text is "Good" and Immediately gets me hooked to it, then Long text. If its plain and boring Long text, I dislike it.

I think a summary that isn't too long or too short would be find. I'm happy to read anything though.
