Freeze M0 550

Freeze M1 1700

Freeze M2 5000

Freeze M3 15000

Freeze is one of the most powerful gun in Tanki, and when it is m3 it is capable of executing an astounding 256 damage at 32 DPS with a charge of 8 seconds. Freeze is similar to Firebird, but Freeze can slow down opponent's movements through a "Freezing" effect leaving opponents helpless until they die. A useful trick that many Freezers figure out on their own, is that if you circle your opponent while firing they will die without you getting hurt much. This trick however, is sometimes easier said than done, because some turrets can turn quickly, and are able to face you even when they are being frozen. Freeze, like Firebird, damages any opponents within the firing cone, making Freeze a perfect weapon for taking out those groups of enemies attacking your flag.

Hulls

You can't use a turret without a hull, so you are going to have to chose a hull to mount your Freeze turret on. Which hull should you chose? It mostly depends on your gaming style, as if you are a flag caper you may want a speedy hull such as Hornet, however if you like defending, an armored hull such as Mammoth or Viking may be a better choice.

Dictator

Dictator is a hull that existed from the beginning of Tanki, and was considered the strongest hull until the tier 2 hulls came into existence. This hull is considered tier 1.5 because it is the most expensive tier 1 hull, and the least expensive tier2 hull. This hull is in my opinion the worst of both worlds, as it has terrible balance, is way oversized, and has a low amount of health. Some people use Freeze with Dictator, but it is uncommon and not recommended. While this hull is still cheap, you could get at least Hornet m2 for the price of Dictator m3. If you do decide to use this hull, good luck beating other tier 2 hulls/weapons. You will need it.

Hornet

Hornet is the cheapest of the tier 2 hulls, however it is one of the best hulls for mounting Freeze on. This combo can quickly and easily circle and pass enemies, and keep on going for the flag without being damaged too much. With drugs, this combo is almost uncatchable, considering the speed of a nitro'd Hornet (20). Though this hull has speed, it lacks armor, so don't go challenging Mammoths with strong turrets unless you can get close quickly.

Viking

Viking is the most versatile hull in Tanki online, as it has a perfect balance of speed and armor. Viking will go well with pretty much every turret, but Freeze probably suits it best. This combo is great for defending or even flag caping. Viking m3 is expensive however, and many players do not have the resources to spend on this expensive hull.

Mammoth

Mammoth is a fortress on treads, and with an extreme amount of health at m3 (200), even a Shaft m3 will have to shoot 2 times to kill this tank. But Freeze is a close range weapon, and Mammoth is a lumbering giant, so how can this super powerful turret and 5.5 speed hull be compatible? Despite the speed, Mammoth is a great hull for close range maps, or even large rang maps as long as you stay in defense and don't rush for the flag. If you add drugs and an expensive paint, you will be the terror of the battlefield, and your Mammoth m3 will start to act as a psychological weapon as people start to think, "Why bother killing this invincible tank when there are plenty of Hornets and Dictators to destroy?" Though Mammoth is an all-powerful hull, it is extremely expensive, and even more so than Shaft.

Paints

Once you have chosen your hull, you will need a reliable paint. There are many paints in Tanki online, but some are more expensive than others, and some are more or less useful. You may be wondering what paint to chose without spending huge amounts of crystals. However, if you do decide to spend lots of crystals on a paint, there are plenty of expensive paints out there that will fit your needs.

Storm

This 5k crystal paint is one of the best paints for its price. Storm protects against Freeze 30%, Railgun 10% and Thunder 5%. Storm looks very good with Viking and Freeze, but also looks good on Mammoth.

Rustle

Rustle is a 12k paint that defends against a few turrets including Thunder 25%, Freeze 20%, Isada 20%, and Smokey 20%. This paint is good for close range weapons, and is even seen with thunder or shaft. While 10k is still pricey, it is a fair amount for this paint. Rustle and Freeze are best used together on Viking.

Rock

Rock is another 10k paint that protects against Freeze 40%, Firebird 30%, and Railgun 10% This good looking paint is uncommon because of the price, but it mostly seen on Viking or Dictator.

Python

Python is a 12k paint that protects mostly against Freeze 40%, Firebird 30%, Isada 15%, and Rico 10%. This paint, though expensive, is fairly common among freeze users, and has a very unique look. Python and freeze are best used together with either Viking or Mammoth.

Inferno

Inferno is 15k, which is the most you can pay for a paint, but is it worth it? Some people say "No" because it only protects against Freeze and Railgun. Others say "Yes" because of the whooping 50% protection against Freeze and 20% protection against Railgun. Personally I think for 15k Inferno should have a few more protections, but the looks make up for the lack of protection. Inferno and Freeze are best used on Hornet, Viking, or Mammoth.

Tactics

Freeze is good for 3 main styles of play. I will quickly describe the styles, and if you feel like one of the styles is what you do, then Freeze is for you. If none of these descriptions fit your style of play, you may want to consider a different gun.

Defence

If you want to defend with Freeze, make sure you are near your flag at all times, and have a convenient place to hide behind when you are low on health, or need to recharge. Make sure you know the tanks that are attacking, and if you can handle them or not. Only attack your target once their back is turned, so that they will have less time to react. Sometimes camping with Freeze can sometimes be tedious, if your team can hold off the enemies from attacking your base.

Offence

Freeze is one of the best offensive guns because of it's mass DPS. When you are attacking, ignore most of the enemies if you can, and keep on going for the flag. Hopefully you will have an Isida following you so you won't have to worry about dying. If you decide to attack, make sure you know your enemies, and have a planned escape route,as you will probably be followed when you leave the enemy base with the flag.

Havoc

Freeze is great for wreaking havoc in the enemy base, and serial killing Mammoths. If you decide to play like this, find the spawn points of the enemies, and be aware of when an enemy is spawning, and kill him right away. Another tactic for wreaking havoc is hiding behind a building and getting the enemies to see you and attack you. Once they start coming for you, you have them distracted and they will always come back, hoping to kill you. Just make sure they are just strong enough to annoy your team, but weak enough for an easy kill, and soon you will have the whole enemy team distracted. The main point for wreaking havoc, is to open a spot for your team to go in and capture the enemy flag. Causing havoc takes practice, and you will need to know your maps before you can be a havoc master.

Freeze Pros and Cons

+

-High DPS at m3

-Ability to immobilize opponents

-8 Seconds of charge

-Easy to take out Isida because of 5 extra meters of range

-Great gun for Defending or Attacking.

-

-Low recharge at m0-m1

-20 Meters of firing range isn't much

-You won't be able to jump from high places

Things To Remember

-You can challenge Thunder or Isida and still win

-You have 20 meters of range, so you need to make sure you can hit your target before shooting.

-You can Freeze more than one enemy and keep the same DPS

-Don't jump from heights

What if

You find a Thunder

Thunder is a dangerous weapon to deal with, and it will take a bit of skill and trickiness to defeat it. Thunder m3 takes 2.25 seconds to reload, so you are either going to move quickly, or wait for him to come in close. If you decide to outcamp him, you have probably chosen well, as most thunder players are impatient and will advance to where you are strongest, and they can splash damage themselves, close quarters. When the Thunder comes within 15 meters you can defeat him easily with a combination of your high DPS and his splash damage. If you decide to charge, make sure you have enough health, and when you get in close, start to circle him and it will die without much effort.

You find another Freeze

By now you should be pretty familiar with how Freeze works, and what some of the strong or weak points are. If you can use the weak points to your advantage, you should be able to take down your clone without much effort. For example, if you are playing on the map Island, always try to get behind the Freeze, so then you have a head start on damaging him.

You find a Ricochet

If you find a Ricochet, the first thing you need to remember is, be careful! Ricochet has a low DPS but the plasma balls have a huge impact on your tank, pushing your tank backwards every time you get hit. If you encounter a Ricochet, find cover and make sure he won't be able to bounce his plasma into you. Like Thunder players, Ricocheters are not always patient, so you can wait for him to come to you. Another tactic is the circle the enemy tactic, which with Ricochet m3 is easier said than done because of the fast swing speed of the turret.

A Shaft corners you

If you happen to see a Shaft aiming at you, first of all find cover. Once you are behind cover, make sure that your turret isn't sticking out of the wall because then the Shaft can hit you.once you are safe, look for a spot of cover that is closer to where he is camping. Once you find the next piece of cover you want to go to, you have to get him to waste a shot. This is easier said than done. You will have to experiment, as each Shaft player has is own strategy. One tactic that works well for me is if you pop out on one side of the cover than switch to the other. After doing this for awhile, the Shaft will think he knows your pattern, so fake him out and get he will misfire. One more tactic is to try to out-camp him. If you hide behind the cover he will eventually move onto another target.

Wrap Up

Overall I am very impressed with Freeze, and I am glad that it was made. Good job developers!

Please note that Rustle's cost is 12k and not 10k.

Also, if i can give a suggestion, when you are defending, you should wait till the enemy turn your back, and then attack him. So you must stay in a place where you can see the flag from.

Good job thought.

I believe the speed of a Nitro'd Hornet is 15. I am pretty sure the equation for speed with Nitro is original speed x 1.3 + 2. In other words, 10 times 1.3 = 13 +2 = 15.

I am very sure this is correct because an m3 mammoth on nitro doesn't have m3 hornet speed, but m2. (5 x 1.3 + 2)

(6.5 + 2) (8.5)

Besides that, I didn't like the part about Dictator being so terrible. Nobody smart would use it with Freeze(I tried...), but you can put Thunder, Rail, Isida, and Shaft on it with no problem. The worst of the Tier 2 is Hornet(I have it m2) and the worst of Tier 1 is Titan(Just way to slow compared to m3 hunter and m3 wasp)
