Doubt regarding the CTF battles

I have a doubt regarding the way the Flags are captured some times. I have participated in some battles where flags were being captured so fast that I could not see the flag on it's initial position after being captured. Recently I have participated in a battle where our team were leading with a score of 3-0 but suddenly our flags started being captured rapidly without even being seen at the initial position. Each time the other team captured our flag, I saw a message that our flag had been taken followed by another message that our flag had been captured.
