I think not because the hard drive does not get material from anywhere + it works like a cd the data is "carved" to the drive and the extra weight might be just dust :P

isn't it that data excists of two numbers... only 0 and 1, milions of them.

and when new information comes the numbers change to a different order.

I don't think there won't be extra weight added though.

 

Or a 0 and a 1 both have different weights. :shock:

Those 0's and 1's are called bits. The normal hard drives are only discs coated with magnetic material and magnetic heads to write/read from it(very simplified explanation). The only changes are the magnetic transitions in the plate. So, how can change the weight of the HDD????
