For many a year, this is what the whole of the English community has been breathlessly anticipating. Even all the way back in 2010, when I was just a small tankman destroying enemy tanks with my trusty Firebird, people were talking about this event with hope that one day it would happen. Tankmen all over the English community were looking forward to this moment. Rumours about whether it would release continuously cropped up. And not until now has it been started. Not until the last two weeks.

What is it that has had so much hype over the age? Before you ask, this is not an advance newspaper article announcing to the world the release of Tanki 2.0. 2.0 has had this hype, but this is an article about another highly-anticipated aspect of Tanki. After all, Tanki 2.0 has been cancelled and will not be out for a good few years now. What I am talking about is something which some of us have been looking forward to more than we have been towards 2.0. What I have been talking about is the first ever official English Clan Tournament.

Yes, the first English Clan Tournament. For the first time in the English community, the strongest and most fearsome tankmen in the English community have a medium by which we can see for the first time which English clan can truly be judged as “the best”. And which clan will be crowned? Which clan will prevail in this battle of Tanki skill and strategy?

All of the big names of the English community are going to be taking part. Dare Devils, Kings of Tanki, Domination Clan, the Ironclads, Cobras Poison – they have all signed up, and are all going to be trying to win the crown, which is accompanied by the massive prize of 150,000 crystals. On another note, this championship will be trying to build on the world cup and integrate a viewing experience for those who are not lucky enough to be in a clan and take part in the battles.

The cybersport/DJ team are going to be streaming live as many of the battles as they can, and you can watch all that are streamed! The battles that the clans will fight will all be closely fought (Except for the inevitable few) and exciting to watch, and the amazing new HD cybersport channel recently bought for the English community certainly will help to make the viewing experience more pleasurable. Accompanied by the new Cybersport commentators, led by ShadowVisions and BarKode, the memories of watching the first couple of World Cup games on that unreliable feed, with minimal quality and unclear sound will be just that – nothing more than memories of the past.

There is a new age to the English Community's cybersport now, and I am sure that the DJ and Cybersport commentary team will be able to pull out all the shots in giving us, the viewers, an amazing viewing experience when watching this clan tournament. The World Cup was the starter for the cybersport team to get ready, now is this the main course? Will they be able to be as popular as they were during the world cup, even without Snyper22?

Anyway, aside from the cybersport teams and onto what this competition will be all about: the clans. After all, it's clans competing against clans, is it not? The clans should be the main focus of this article and the Clan Championship in general. Will the established clans be able to win? Or will new clans spring surprises? What about the clans that have returned to the English community after having graced the Russian community for the latest ToF and “Capture Card” competitions? What nationality of clan will the winner be? German, Arabic, English, Italian, or what?

Whatever the answer to these questions about the overall winner will be, there is one thing that is certain: it'll certainly be exciting in the way that they get to the top of the pile! As far as I can remember, this is the first cybersport competition that will utilize a variation of playing modes (CTF, TDM, and CP), with CTF for all the preliminary matches, and CP and TDM for the final and semi-final respectively. This will mean that for a clan to conquer, they will not just need to be good at the established clan war tactics of fighting a CTF battle, but they also need to be able to adapt to TDM fighting and the brand-new fighting style that will be of Capture Points.

Capture Points, incidentally, if you did not know, is the new game mode which will be coming out with the new graphics in the highly-anticipated upcoming 1.100.0 update. As a game mode, it will certainly be very entertaining to play in public battles. The scoring system seems ingenious, and having points in strategic positions on the map will give a different feel to gameplay. But is capture point suitable for clan war fighting? How can strategy be planned out? The top clans will certainly have to think about that if they want to win the crown of the top English clan! I am positive that the final will be a cracking affair in terms of clan war fighting in the new game mode. It should be amazing.

But that is just a diversion, and a discussion for another topic. Back to the English clan Tournament. There have already been attempts at starting other, unofficial, tournaments, between clans, but very few have left the ground. The only one that actually started was one created by koolwalky and PhantomMeat earlier in the year, but even that was a half-hearted affair, only competed by some of the clans and not even rated too highly by those that did compete. This should be a completely different matter. For a start, there are prizes at stake: things like pride, “sticky”s, and reputation, not to mention the small matter 150,000 crystals, will stop any clan from treating this lightly!

Whatever the outcome will be, and no matter how everything is planned out, it will certainly be an amazing spectacle to watch and to take part in. By the time this is published, the deadline for applications should have closed, but you still have a chance to apply for one of the clans that did enter, and see if you will have a chance to take part in this, the grandest of stages. And here's to hoping that the first English clan championship will not be the last!

For clans in the English and German sections of the forum. It doesn't matter what language they speak, although I guess that they must have one person who can speak English to be able to discuss with the championship organisers.
