~Sandbox Dream Team~

sandbox1s.jpg

Each map is unique, its own wonder. Each one has its own special features, props, and colors. Every day, battles go on in these maps. Each team fights bitterly for the crystals that are funding the battle. But the fund will not be given out equally to each team. No, it will only be given to the winning team. I only begin to touch the surface on what kind of a team will win when I write this article.

~CTF - Defense~
First, when thinking of defense, everyone suggests freezes. Freeze has very good defensive capabilities, and always, when defending in sandbox, have a good freeze on a reliable tank (Hornet, or Viking, never Dictator). It is essential, if you are the freeze, to make sure you aren’t facing two opponents from totally different angles. Always go one-on-one (if you have a choice) with freeze. Always keep in mind: The best defense is attack. This is especially true with freeze. If you can attack, attack. If you have no chance (the person you are facing has a faster tank than you, or has a long-ranged gun) its best to stay where you are, but otherwise, it would probably be best to strike before they strike you. So, one most essential, and defensive member of the Dream-Team is… Freeze.

~CTF - Mid Field~
As the Mid Fielder, your main job is to cover the attacking and defending players. But the question is, what gun is best at covering them in this map? It isn’t shaft. Shaft players have to be protected, and people can’t just run around them and start shooting. In this map, it is very easy to do so. The answer? Thunder. This one-tank-army type of weapon is perfect for covering, and being mid-fielder, because many enemy tanks will come up, and with unlimited firing capabilities, Thunder is the best choice for holding off numerous assaults. The Thunder is best equipped with very healthy tanks, to be the most effective (Viking and Mammoth). The enemy when trying to break either your defense or attack, will soon find a huge boulder standing in their way!

~CTF - Attack~
In the game mode “CTF” the attacker is the most important part of the team. As a rule, when attacking, the flag must be captured. There must always be at least two tanks participating in the attack. Now that we have our mid-fielder, (Thunder) we can now choose which guns to participate in the attack. We could have another Freeze, because it is good at taking out tanks by sheer force, but its range is badly lacking to attack. Freeze desperately needs speed. Thunder is horrible at close ranges, and this map is a rather small one, so Thunder should not be the attacker. Shaft is not recommended for this map, so there is only one other choice; Ricochet. Unlike Freeze, this gun has a very respectable range, and unlike Thunder, it can easily defeat a tank up-close. A very effective attack strategy on this map is to have two Ricochet attacking consistently on a weakening enemy defense.

Sandbox CTF Dream Team: 1 Freeze (Viking), 1Thunder (Mamooth), and 2 Ricochet (both Vikings).

~TDM - Defense~
TDM is a totally different game mode than CTF. In TDM (Team Death Match) the idea is to have a reliable defense, to prevent spawn-killing. Since freeze cannot self-destruct (which makes sure that the enemy gets the least amount of kills possible) we need a different gun this time. Ricochet cannot take more than one tank at a time effectively, so Thunder will be our defense, with the most healthy tank in-game, Mammoth.

~TDM - Mid-Field~
This position is the most important position for this map. Here’s why: Since this map has a dominating area - a middle “field” - the winning team (the team with the most kills) will occupy this area because from that vantage point, you can shoot down into the area where the enemy tanks will spawn. With this in mind, which gun is best for this? Again, it isn’t shaft for two reasons: 1: It cannot self-destruct. 2: The said “middle point” is easily circled around, to the extreme dis-advantage of shafts. That leaves only Thunder and Ricochet left. Which of these is best for this position? Thunders are very good because they can shoot down into clumps of opponents and stop main drives for the center-point in Sandbox, but Rico is excellent at stopping lone tanks and reaching the un-reachable with their guns. The answer is both. The lone Rico will make sure the position is guarded and will support the two Thunders, which will be stopping main attacks with the most all-round tank in-game, Viking.

~TDM - Attack~
The key to TDM is to force the enemy to attack or die, and then when they attack, it means certain death. There are no flags to capture, so there is no attacker.

Sandbox TDM Dream Team: Three Thunders (one “Mammoth” two Viking), one Rico (with Viking).

Lolol you wrote Mamooth! Sandbox and the guns should have a capital letter, but other than that, I love it! Sandbox is one of my favourite maps, when I was a low-er rank, I longed for those battles instead of the over-estimated Short Bridge. But, what I hate about so many of the reports such as this is that they're always going for Tier 2 stuff. As proven by many, many experienced players, Tier 1 guns and hulls can, at times, be just as effective as Tier 2... I really despise those who think of Tier 1 hulls (if you put them in groups) as babyish. I have pretty much contradicted myself here, but anyway, Hunter and Dictator can prove very... (I hate to use the same word again) effective when used correctly. I repeat the phrase 'used correctly'. It doesn't matter what you're using, Smoky and Wasp used correctly can be just as good as Shaft and Viking. Maybe it would have helped if you did what skitee did and asked some people of their opinion. Good job all the same.

Don't know, but in CTF, one freeze-hornet atacker usually get good results. Normally there are 2 or more ricos, so the players use spark or zeus, useless against freeze. And the map is so small, that if you make a single mistake and hornet grab the flag is almost a capture, specially if they pick a nitro. Even if the enemy thunder kill the hornet half way, there are a big chance that the other atacker pick the flag and capture. Just an opinion, anyway great article.

@selena, nobody argue about the value of tier 1 hulls or guns. You can beat a regular player tier 2 gun/hull with tier 1 combo if you're way more skilled. But if both are pros, it's impossible.

Freeze hornet is a good combo for attacking, but when playing clans in wars ect, there is usually a established defence... Basically, Freeze hornet is a good combo, but it isn't as good as a rico or Thunder with Viking ;)
