All right guys, I know a way to reduce the number of dupe topics easily.

 

I will be VERY brief with my explanation, I hope someone of high authority will see this.

 

Right now when we use the search feature it will show us all replies and topics that match a search. Usually, hundreds of pages of results, most of them useless. This makes the search function ALMOST USELESS to find what you need.

 

So what do I recommend? Make an option to be able to search "Only topics which names contain ____" or "Only topics which names or content (aka first post) contain ____" or "Only replies which contain ____" or "All results which contain ____"

 

But, your forum provider, jforum, probably doesn't allow this does it? So change your forum provider, this one sucks.

 

P.S. And let us have forum avatars you think this is a game?

Just about every forum in existence BESIDES THIS ONE allows avatars.

NO.Because first, the Forum will start looking like a christmas tree, and second, because at least 50% of the players will upload Staff avatars to their profiles.Then, they will probably get banned for this, etc, etc - CHAOS.

Look at any other forum, no one gives a flying squat wheather the mods/admins have avatars. All the forums have a category clearly above the picture. Only admins can change this category and it says things such as "User" "Moderator" "Admin" "Banned" and it is completely customizable in ANY forum provider.

 

If you think avatars are a bad idea than you can go jump off a cliff because that's how usefull your input on the idea is.

Contaminated, you spelt useful wrong. Anyway yes it's one of the best ideas I have seen, as it's really annoying when people always say 'use the search', as it never brings anything useful.

+1. Would be better if also they make a checkbox or radiobutton(or wherever control) to merge all the result from one topic if you want. If you search now any common term, you receive hundreds of pages from the same topic, replies and replies. Merging those results could be more coherent.

did you even notice what version they use? 2.18 from 2007 !!! last version is 2.19 from 2010 ! also, its FREE forum. :mrgreen: they dont even pay for this.

They use 2.1.8.

There is 2.1.9 and 3.0 BETA.

But I doubt it is free, the web link is forum.tankionline.com, so it is a part of tankionline.com

 

If it was free, it would look more like tankionline.jforum.com

 

So I do think they pay for it, but the way they organize it uuugh!!

 

I mean there are a billion reasons for us to be allowed to have avatrs and absolutely no arguement that I have heard or made up myself are legitimate enough.

 

I dare anyone, I dare you to tell me why you think we shouldn't have avatars and I WILL prove you wrong.

 

-Back on topic. They should switch forum provider, it can still look exactly the same, but I've seen features such as hovering with your mouse over a topic will preview what is in it, so you can read the first 2 lines and decide if its worthy of a click. And preferably, a better SEARCH FUNCTION cause I can't even find my own posts using this junk
