Hello

I need to know what these configurations do.

I want disable them to try get less LAG. LAG´s began for me and many people , after tanki online was updated in graphics and those new options ( settings )

I use windows XP sp 3.

Microsoft .NET framework 4.

last version flash player and activeX

3 mb connection internet speed.

Why I dont see all options: shadow under tank , soft particles, fog , Dynamics shadows ??

Testing any browser ( google chrome , firefox , Opera , Internet explorer ) ,

This is my window of Settings :

*Background sound ( music ): I think it only works in Madness ( space ) and Halloween map

*Sound volume: They are those noises of shots and motors in background

This is Full settings window in tanki online.

I will explain them one by one for you.

1) You don't see any of those "special options" since your graphic card doesn't support them. I was (till a month ago) on a WindowsXP SP3 with a 256 MB Graphic Card with 1 GB or RAM. I COULD NOT SEE THOSE OPTIONS.

Now I modified my PC: 4 GB of RAM, 512 MB Graphic Card and Windows 7 Professional. I SEE THOSE OPTIONS.

If you can't see those options, they are already disabled for you as default.

2) Background sounds work everywhere. When you join a random map, you will start to hear noises like explosions or tanks moving, even if you aren't firing nor moving. Those are the background sounds.

Example: the "scary" theme when you join the hallowen map is a background sound.

3)Adaptive FPS is an option that allow your broswer or your flash player (don't remember correctly) to auto-balance your FPS to suit your performances.

4) The skybox is what you see behind every sides of a map. Try to join Island and keep on moving. All around the "island" you will see mountains and environment: that is the Skybox.

This option allow you to remove this feature, so you will only see a monochromatic skybox (sort of green).

5)Mip-mapping is something related to 3D graphic and better image quality like auto-balance of colours and 3D impressions of any objects in the battle.

This option allow you to enance your 3D experience (will require higher memory usage) or play a battle as it is (for me, without Mip-Mapping, TO is really good, well-looking and fast, so I always disable it)

6) Alternative camera behaviour is related to how the on-board camera works. It can follow you as default (the normal way you see the game play) or behave in a different way.

Enable this option will make your camera to move differently from the default settings, disabling it will make your camera to move as usual for everyone. (I, and I think most of TO users, play with this option DISABLED, so normal camera).

So, resuming, if you don't see those special options like "shadow under tank , soft particles, fog , Dynamics shadows" don't even bother to find them, they are disabled for default since your Graphic card/Flash player doesn't support them.

What I can suggest is to disable: Mip-mapping, adaptive FPS and, if you want to try (but it will be boring after sometime to see a monochromatic skybox), Skybox.

P.S Hope I help'd you.

and Enable Hardware Acceleration and soft particles

Join a server. When you see the Chat and the battles list (or you are in the garage), right-click with your mouse somewhere on the page and click "Settings".

It will open a little windows, search for the "Enable Hardware Acceleration" tick-box and check if it's enabled.

"shadow under tank , soft particles, fog , Dynamics shadows" will be seen only with a good graphic card that support such features, otherwise, you won't see them.

As I told you, when I had my PC configured with Windows XP SP3, the old RAM and Graphic card, I had the "hardware acceleration" option enabled but couldn't see those options anyways.

Hardware acceleration simply allow your flash player to enance your performances (enable it, it will make your TO run faster), not to see those features.

I've soft particles disabled since it require more memory usage, but I see marks on walls or on objects, I see explosions marks :)

Explain us why It is happening !

For those who can not see the extended options in the settings.... Your graphics card does not support hardware acceleration! Sadly I feel that the majority of users are running desktops & laptops that are a couple of years old or even more (or new budget machines with standard graphics cards). These are the users that Tanki Devs SHOULD be using as a benchmark for gameplay and not just those with high end gaming desktops or the few gaming laptops that support high end graphics (that cost over a $/£1000 a pop).

Tanki appear to be steamrolling ahead and alienating the majority of users by working towards accelerated graphics usage. If this was a single purchase retail PC or Console game then that is the way it usually works. They are ignoring the principle ideals of browser based gaming which is to use the lowest common denominator to enable the largest number of users the smoothest gaming experience (amongst other things).

They have headed down the wrong path for the majority of users and sadly until they take a sidestep and re-evaluate their development plan, the majority of us are going to be stuck with the problems we currently experience and worse beyond.

Until change is instigated at the development level, whether that be a partial technical roll-back or something substantial, lag, freeze, reduced fps and impossibly ******ed gameplay is here to stay!

See you later !

You have to turn on hardware acceleration.

Where can I do it ??

*Background sound ( music ): I think it only works in Madness ( space ) and Halloween map

Sound volume is the normal option to increase or decrease the game sounds volume.. Like when listening to a video or to music..

Background sounds are musics, themes and some explosions/moving tanks sounds. Try to make a battle and join it alone, even if you don't fire/move you will hear some noises, those are the background sounds.

In addiction, madness(space) and hallowen map have music too.
