A very difficult and weird question...

Does moderators get banned?

Well, it's a bit different..

If they break rules they can get warned, then fired.

If they break major rules they will get fired and banned..

We are all equals here, if they make something wrong or abuse their powers they can get fired/banned (I'm pretty sure of it).

what are your sources? how do u know? or is that just a guess?

My sources? Myself and lots of experience in such things :)

I've been around in online games for about 5 years now, and I know that Moderators(and staff in general) must follow rules or they will be punished like all normal players.

Actually it's impossible to ban a moderator.

I'm speaking in terms of "law" :) A mod can be fired or even banned if he breaks major rules.

At least this is what I saw around.

Well from personal experience, writing /banminute modname leads to nothing :D

And let's say that there should be no need to ban a mod...

First, we hire someone to watch over all the moderators in case they abuse their power.

Then, we have to hire someone to watch over the moderator-watcher.

Then, we hire the moderator-watcher-watcher.

Then, we hire the moderator-watcher-watcher-watcher.

It goes on and on until everyone single person in tanki is hired with the job of watching over someone else. Problem solved :)

Mods can't be banned, but I believe they can be warned.

And yes, if they break rules, the Developers will take action. But other Staff members can't ban them I think.

Well from personal experience, writing /banminute modname leads to nothing :D

What if it worked

They obviously have an immunity from commands sent from other staff in general.. The only that can ban mods should be Devs and Admins..

Yes^

if a moderator needs to get banned; he shouldn't be a mod in the first place... thus it would be an error from the admins.

But it's never going to get this far; as they choose good helpfull people, not a random douchebag.
