The shaft survival guide.

Recommended Posts

Please note, work in progress.

The moment you hit wo4, you have no choice but to be battling against shaft.

And m0 can destroy many tanks in 1 shot.

So here are some helpful hints for each weapon against shaft.

When you have:

Smokey/thunder

When a shaft is in sight, take cover. Preferably behind a wall that you can appear either side

Poke your tanks hull out a tiny bit to make the shaft attempt to hit you, this is harder than it looks for a shaft.

As soon as they have shot, jump out and start shooting, keep shooting.

Now if they shoot again very quickly then they chose not to charge, you are very likely to win if you keep on shooting than if you duck under cover. If they have a longer pause, they are charging up, you need to take cover gain and repeat until dead.

Rail gun

Like Smokey except this time get back under cover for each shot.

Remember to aim before taking cover again.

Twins/rico/freeze/fire bird

Start by taking cover, stick out a tiny bit to make opponent miss.

Then as soon as they shoot, jump out and head towards them firing.

Make sure to circle them as their turret moves extremely slow in scope mode.

If you are too far away, get back under cover on the journey.

Shaft.

You have a few options.

1) pretend you are thunder and use quick fire to take damage.

2) show a bit of tank hull to make them miss a shot then run out and pin them in scope.

You will be the first to shoot them. If you get in this situation then fire before full charge and get under cover.

This puts them off their aim making them potentially miss.

3) hide, wait for them to get distracted then snipe them with full charge (most effective)

If anyone has anything to add to this then please comment below.

Its the most expensive weapon so most user will have advanced hulls too ! And worst case good paints!

Never sit in front of shaft and attack .. Its turret is slow and many are mammoth users, exploit it's weakness.

There are many noobs running for crystals, In silence maps crystals zones are shafts aim zones too. Exploit such crystal mad people by making them shaft bait . Let the shaft kill such noobs and then attack (but if you horned m0 or less health, forget it its not your job) . The shaft would be charging after the kill and can't hurt you much.

A nice tactic is to aim for the other Shaft, shoot it on the side (if he is aiming and charging up). That way he has to move all the way back to get his aim again. Repeat this until he is destroyed. It might even make him miss a shot. If you have a tank that isn't destroyed by an other Shaft in one shot, take your time and charge up until you can kill him..

Thunder is best IMO for killing Shafts because you can, if you are in the right circumstances, hit a wall above them and they become confused. The explosion Thunder creates also blinds Shafts if they are in scope and make it hard for them to hit you.

thankyou for your comments (I made an edit here and there to make it easy to read)

Shaft vs shaft : first to shoot wins . No skills ?

U shaft and being hit :

If its a rail , wait for its flash and shake it with a shot in corner (the trick u used with smokey), anything else just back off , your team mates will cut him .

Its very hard to maintain camping spots .. Avoid being on any path Many noobs just Drive crazy and crash on u making your aim go off and in some cases if a tank jumps on u while u in scope it is fired .

Another thing for team battles is to distract the person with shaft and have someone who is bait, the tank leading the assault will likely die but the tanks behind him should try and get rid of the shaft as killing them might dislodge him from a vital post.

Rapid fire is another way to beat a shaft, if you've ever used one, twins and ricochet can be your worst enemy, even the knockback on normal guns such as thunder or railgun is bad but on a shaft is 2x worse. You'll have to contend your scope aiming all over the place. One tactic that I've seen shaft do is set up at all the entrances into their position so any tank could be destroyed with ease. The following tactic above works quite well if you have a well organised team.

Outflank him. it's simple, in my opinion, if the team that have a shaft can maintain their positions, then having a freeze doesn't really threaten a shaft but the only logical thing to do is catch him unguarded and most of the time you'll kill him if the enemy don't spot you freezing him then that's the only way. A freeze isn't one of the most dangerous weapons that a shaft could face in my opinion.

In my experince, it's all about the tank that sets up in their position first.

I know, but this guide shows you how to break that barrier.

People break that barrier all the time against me but they don't understand it so they hide instead of fight.

Looks like most don't actually have shaft at wo4

When I'm using Shaft, Ricochets are the most annoying because they make it very, very hard to aim when shooting at you. I also came across a lot of Railguns. Once there were two of them behind a wall, one left and one right.

I didn't know where to look, because if I aimed for the right one, the left one would pop out and shoot and the other way around. They could see which way my turret was aimed. I was forced to change positions, to prevent them from killing me over and over again.

That's proof that railgun fails; you need two people to make it effective.

does the shaft and anti shaft tactics depend on the map u play ?

any, I imagined this situation in silence II where tanks camp on the top wall (blue team)

and in between the house and slope (hard as hell to hit someone in it)

so coming up as red team on the right slope you will likely face a shaft.

the two houses and the decline in the slope is what you should use as cover.

but this can be any cover where shaft is at a distance.

Shaft can be great weapon combined with M1 (or higher) mammoth. you can one shot hornets in full charge. If your team has less players and enemy team keeps coming in your base. Take cover, charge up at the top and as soon as you see a enemy, fire! Viking M0 can be killed in a full charged shot and one normal shot. Pretty great combination to use at map Highland. as the snipers are really annoying, enemies will be mostly popping out in front of your shaft, so always keep your shaft charged as much as you can (take cover after shot, as it take a while to reload)

Using a shaft:

1.u can kill a hornet, wasp with about only hlf of the charge with M0 Shaft.

2. If Using mammoth the power killer ( rico, twins, thunders) has hard time killing u , u can charge in the meantime.

3. If dying charge til the last moment then shoot, u might kill them or take out half of their health.

4. If protecting ur flag stay hidden, mad player will rush in and let them take the flag then kill them becaue u get more points.

5. In CTF try to stay behind enemy base the spawn trap them, there is a greater chance u might die but it's worth it.

6. LAST ADVICE: Don't stay in the middle and go like this: :fire_r: :fire_l: (if u do this u will get killed, remember its not ur job as a shaft to capture the flag)

It takes only about half of the charge to destroy a M0 hornet with a M0 shaft
