Quit crying MadDog. Or should I say, SadDog. I never get lag. Ever. It's just you, go buy a new computer and stop using the one they used to test the deciphering method of Czarist Russia.

you are just one another annoying troller_flooder.... you dont know what MD21, Otto_I, me... and many others here USE on daily basics. i know all of them and no one have same computer and same Net provider. we all have lags and you just lying when you said that you dont have. now, get lost or post something useful.

simple.. instead that they spending money for god knows what they can buy new servers and relocate them in some other country where is Net stable / reliable.

Wow. I don't understand why this notorious blocker gets all this and the topic isn't locked, when others make topics about lag and receive nasty comments.

by8, sheath your rapier-like wit till you put an edge on the blade. You contribute nothing except for proof of your immaturity and status as a fool. Go play with you action figures aka dolls.

Everyone started spinning when a gold box was halfway to the ground... (Would add my pic but I'm getting some errors)  Been playing this game on and off for about 3 years (I remember seeing MD21 handing everyone's chassis to them as a master sergeant in m3 wasp/smoky), but you've really dun goofed with this cons-outweigh-pros rebalance and the lag you don't seem to care about. Well put, as usual, MadDog.

This is going to be done, Tanki will be moved to a new server platform. Please don't talk if you aren't well informed.

And you shouldn't dont talk at all unless you have proof from a reliable source.

By88 is right.

I read for the fist time about new server in other location in 2011. I dont remember the name of MOD who said that, but was in 2011.

I am affected by this lag just like many of you.

As an IT and network guy by trade, I can tell you these problems can be complex. Often it's not as simple as "buy more servers and bandwidth at the datacenter." Just to give you an idea of a typical website, there are 3 tiers, but you as a user only access the web tier:

1) Web servers (that you login through and play through)

2) App servers (that actually take commands from web server and run them against Database server)

3) Database servers (to manage all the maps, user settings, passwords, etc)

Any or all of these could be having problems under high load. Each tier has a finite number of connections between the tiers. Let's say for example that each web server is tuned for 4096 connections to the public. Your web browser generally will open up to 8 TCP connections to a web server, give or take. That means 512 users can completely bottleneck that web server, leaving no room for any new connections. That's why I assume tanki has multiple web servers talking to multiple app servers talking to a single monolithic highly-redundant DB server. This is a very common web architecture. This tuning problem can exist at the App server layer as well, because guess what? App servers have a finite number of listeners to take commands from the web servers. Similarly, Database servers also have a finite number of ODBC connections available to the App servers to perform commands.

Tuning web server performance is more art than science, and Tanki devs are probably tweaking/changing server settings to figure out the "magic formula." There are many, many variables that can improve performance that are not code related. They typically relate to tuning TCP stack on servers.

On top of all these issues, bandwidth bottlenecks could also be the culprit. Datacenters usually sell bandwidth in chunks called CIR (commited information rate). That means a guaranteed rate of bandwidth such as 10Mbps symmetric. Then they allow you to "burst" beyond your CIR during peak times, but only to the extent bandwidth is available.

Anyway, I'm not saying the lag is good, but I felt like I should explain why sometimes it seems like developers are not trying hard enough to fix problems, but in reality it's a really complex problem to wrap full control over, as the Internet is a free-for-all place. Imagine you have a restaurant and 50 people ate tonight, so you plan for max of 100 tomorrow but instead 2,000,000 show up. What do you do? Yeah, that's the massive problem Tanki has to deal with. You need a really scalable web architecture and they've managed pretty well so far, except for this lag thing for last few months.

Anyway MadDog, hope they figure this out soon. I have to reload every 2-5 mins. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only adult playing Tanki, but I see there are many of us. :-)

Increasing the data to unlimited is bull. It doesn't help if you have a old comp. tanki only needs 10kb of space. It's the flash player that kills the comp. if you go to task manager and set the priority to above normal while tanki loads and then set it back to normal once it starts it works the best for me. It's Ctrl alt delete for those who don't know, then go to process list and find the one for flash. If you are playing then its the one that's taking up the most memory. That's all I can say that helps and turning all special graphics off. Tell me if it help:)

Not months.

Years.

No more excuses.

Credibility reserves at zero percent and falling fast.

... It's Ctrl alt delete for those who don't know...

This is for Windoes users (doesnt matter which version as long after 2000):

That's the slow way cause you get a list and have to choose "Task Manager"... it's actuall Crtl + Shift + Esc and Task Manager opens right away

Kindly don't tell me what to do; I'm saying what's planned by the Devs, if you don't believe...it's your problem.

No. If your going to make statements involving "hearsay" then you better cough up sources fast. Else it's not just "my" problem buddy.
