The Mid Fielder's Manual Pt. I

Introduction: This is a "field manual" for Mid Fielders in Tanki Online. We will review several different combinations popular among mid fielders, and we will also look at different protective paints, such as Clay and Picasso. We will also look at the best mid field positions for each map in Tanki! I hope this helps you become one of the best mid fielders out there. This edition is on Silence II.

Strategy

Key:

Red: These are suggested positions for red team, and should probably be used together as a team to cover certain danger spots, and to help red's offense get into the enemy base easier.

Blue: These are suggested positions for blue team when the enemy is on the offensive side, and it is best to be securing these critical locations.

Light blue: This position is a more offensive one, and is good to use in support of a healthy offense. However, the other positions that are colored normal blue should still be occupied if this is to be used as a position for a mid fielder.

Paints

As a mid fielder, you will probably want something that protects against commonly used sniper weapons. Most mid fielders aren't looking for camouflage, and camouflage is especially useless when it comes to this map for a mid fielder.

Emerald: A excellent choice for any mid fielder who dislikes Thunder's power, it ensures that you will be able to compete with most Thunder users. It also has Twins protection, which is a great choice for this map, as some Twins users might try to join.

Jade: This paint actually blends in with Silence II much better than some would think. But its protections are the great thing for a mid fielder - with both Smokey, Thunder, and Shaft, it is a great choice for many a mid fielder. However, it does have a very small protection against a very popular gun - Thunder.

Prodigi: As above, this also has moderate camouflage for Silence II, even though that is not as useful for a defender, it still might come in handy in some instances. Unlike Jade however, it has more proportioned protections. It has moderate protection against Shaft (which is handy sometimes), good protection against Thunder (you really can't go wrong here) and great protection against Railgun (very useful).

Needle: Though it may have been initially intended for snipers in more lush areas, it can still be used here, though maybe to less effect. It has great Smokey protection, and a mid fielder may find that very important. It also has good Shaft and ricochet protection. The latter two guns, however, are beginning to fall into disuse.

Picasso: Though it does not have much of a brown hue to it, it does have a great array of protections. Thunder, Railgun, Shaft and Freeze are four guns that a mid fielder will not have to worry about as much. Plus, all these guns have a roughly 20% protection each, and that should ensure that you will be able to destroy them in most cases.

Clay: Many mid fielders like this paint, and though it does not have the best coloring for this map, and you probably will not have leeches bumping against your hull, that isn't the main feature of this paint. With both Thunder and Railgun protection, it is a great choice for many mid fielders who dislike these weapons. It also ensures that Ricochet will not bother you near as much.

Positions

This is a great position, at it is easy to knock out attackers that try to strike from the other route, but it can also reach the enemy snipers from their base. It is good to keep these snipers in check, and to allow your attackers to move up without worrying about them.

Suggested Weapons: Thunder or Twins

Suggested Paints: Emerald, Prodigi, or Jade

This position is probably best used when it is supported by the position above. Remember, it is important to stop the enemy attackers here, before they can get any further.

Recommended Weapons: Thunder, Ricochet, or Twins.

Recommended Paints: Emerald, Clay, or Picasso

This position is good, as long as you can destroy your opponent before he reaches you. It is very good for your team to control this position, and it can also ensure that the enemy will not be able to kill as many tanks from the small sniping spot next to the pipes.

Recommended Weapons: Thunder or Railgun

Recommended Paints: Emerald, Prodigi, Picasso, or Jade

This position is one of the easiest to master for mid fielders. It is a great spot to knock out many spawning tanks, and it is one of the best positions for a mid fielder on blue team.

Recommended Weapons: Thunder or Railgun

Recommended Paints: Needle, Clay, or Jade

This is a great position for mid fielders on blue team to occupy, but it is dangerous for Thunder because of the splash effect. It is great if the position above is occupied, and if you control both these areas, you are in control of the map in most instances.

Recommended Weapons: Railgun, Thunder, or Ricochet

Recommended Paints: Picasso, Jade, or Emerald

This is a controversial position. However, if you use the right tactics, it can be effective in controlling this sector. As any camper knows, its dangerous to stem the main attack line of the enemy, especially if they have Isida. However, if you can hold the position, it is great.

Recommended Weapons: Railgun or Ricochet

Recommended Paints: Picasso, Prodigi, or Clay

Note: Some of the positions depicted here have several variations. It is purely up to you which variation you think best for your situation.
