general state of lag in the game

Well you can go to russia to play a game but i have a future in were i'm at, so i dont think that will be a good choice for me to consider, also.. i cant trust thinking russians dont have lags.. and are 100% free of lags. it's im 0% certain, besides why move when the problem can be fixed.?

I am aware of and know how to use ping, traceroute, etc. etc.. I know about cloud-ix.net and datahouse.ru and the associated information. These are SERVICE PROVIDERS for Tankionline. These locations are where my Mbps, ping rate, etc., etc. begins to DROP rapidly. It truly isn't Tankionline's fault. It's their SERVICE PROVIDER. Perhaps they should look into getting another one other than the aforementioned. This company advertises as: "Today we have a network with a well-developed infrastructure and a successful data-centers in Russia, Ukraine and abroad.".

the buck stops with tanki. they are the end user right? if you go to eat fish in a restaurant and the fish stinks, do you blame the fisherman? however, this is part of the issue. tanki needs Geo located servers.

but the problem is time with them, so many players make post about this issue and they come out apologizing about this, they need to sort this problem quickly and fast, many buyers are quitting if this carry's on, who knows how many users will still be online :s

Lawl I didn't even completely read the first page, too many long messages :P but I do agree to one thing, game maps take too much memory, time to load and big maps lag a lot. Tanki should have servers in different parts of the world so non Russians lag less. The main cause of lag is connection loss from Moscow, so if there is a server in ur area your will lag much lesser.

actually russia has one of the highest server costs in the world. so its strange that the will not make servers in other countries. perhaps its to due with tax issues? just a thought...

In case you didn't know it, this is the BRAINS behind Tankionline: http://alternativaplatform.com/en/ . They have some very nice demos and lots of free software on the site. It doesn't appear to me that they are out to "scam" anyone out of their money or their time. It is a professional company being ran by PROFESSIONALS. I am sure they are making every effort to solve the LAG PROBLEM. They don't have to be told that it is bad for business and I am certain they are working as quickly as possible to solve it.

 

The OP started the topic in good faith and made some reasonable points. It started out as a topic to discuss ideas and exchange info until the MUD SLINGERS showed up. Thanks to their input it has turned into yet another WHINE AND MOAN FESTIVAL. This is the reason I rarely participate in these topics. They eventually turn into a big waste of time.

 

I am willing to wait a reasonable length of time for the lag issue to be solved. Right now, even with the lags, Tanki is a lot of fun for me. Once it stops being FUN ... I'm out of here.

Your point about Russian players experiencing no problems is valid. I have confirmed this with some Russian based players.

You may also be very interested in the fact that Chinese and Russian players pay a FRACTION for their crystals compared to what we do in the rest of the world. Nice huh?

My part in this discussion is over. You can't really call this a discussion. Most of the people that respond don't even read the last post let alone the original post. It is more of a "gripe session" than a discussion. 90% BullPoop and 10% useful information.

 

 

I posted the link so that people could see that this is not an amateurish online business being ran by teenagers out of their Mom's basement. You vaguely imply in the OP that the developers don't know what they are doing. After looking at the Alternativa site I am sure no one could get that impression. Their expertise in right out there in public and readily viewable. No offense to you, but where is yours ?

 

FBI is a good person to have around in the Forums. I am sure he has other things to do rather than hang around this particular topic and defend the developers or anyone else for that matter.
