No, you didn't.There are many correct answers before yours, the first one got/will get the prize.

but that is a bit bad because suppose you were the 1st person to get it right but noone approves it and the 2nd person gets it approved first and wins

You still don't get it.You were NOT the first person that got it.

 

It doesn't matter how many comments will be approved before yours, yours already created its 'spot', so if you were really the first one, no matter when it will be approved, it will show up as the first comment.
