Suggestion: Self Destruct Modification Needed

Hi.

Does anyone feel that it is unfair to

( a ) waste all your power on a thunder only for them to destroy you and for them to self destruct?

Or, ( b ) the thunder to self destruct leaving your weapon depleted and health very low?

Or, ( c ) for an opponent to be on the brink of being destroyed only for them to hurl themselves over the edge of the map?

 

I think in at least one or more, if not all of these cases, need to be looked at again.

Suggestion: The player who has inflicted most damage to the tank that is self destructing should get the benefit of the kill, points wise. The team should also benefit from players who deliberately self destruct in all games that are affected. [edit: What do you think about a -10pt penalty for players self destructing.]

The only time I would disagree with the above is if Delete is pressed.

So what do you think. Will tanki reconsider these?

I self destruct all the time just when I'm about to die.

It's tactic... getting them mad, not concentrated, especially in TDM and DM's.

 

You will gain kills, while the enemy gets NONE.

I use thunder, i think you need to deal with this and stop being a baby, if you know how to use thunder this doesnt happen much.

Hi splitterpoint, I agree it is a tactic but it's not realistic and detracts from game enjoyment. Making players mad surely isn't the intention of the game makers. Thunders get a double benefit of hitting a long range target and of being able to self destruct close up. I'd like to see a change and I'm sure I'm not the only one. How about a -10pt penalty for those who self destruct?

Thunder is the most tactical weapon. Self-destructing onto an enemy deals LOADS of damage to your enemy.

I do this all the time. Thunder is my favourite turret and this 'tactic' all comes with the high prices of this weapon.

Thunder is a very tactical weapon. Consider this: You shoot your Thunder and while it's reloading the other tank rests right up against yours in an effort to kill you. Hopefully, your weapon will reload before you die. Now you have a choice: 1) let him kill you and get the kill point or 2) you shoot, knowing that your life is low and so is his. If you shoot, you will die and so will he and both of you will be sent back to home base. But you have a kill point and he doesn't.

 

Now, for your question (poll). I don't think there should be a penalty for self-destruct. Let me ask you a question. What's the difference between self-destruction by means of the weapon/going over the edge or using a life pack? Either way, you don't get the kill point, because if he uses the life pack his energy is restored and you're a dead man! So, if you penalize for self-destructing, then you will also have to penalize for using a life pack.

 

In TDM, self-destruction is a tactic to keep the other team from making kill points, which can be a critical move if the points are close towards the end of the game and your team is winning by a hair.

Answer) The difference between a life pack and SD self destruct is that you pay for your life pack and the SD is free. It's not just free, it's the joker in the pack, the get-out-of-jail-free card. Life, armor and power packs, even mines, are means to get an advantage and have to be paid for. I'm not picking on thunders per se, but the SD in general. I use it all the time because there is no penalty. I also hurl myself off the edge in order to get back to flag quicker that's under attack, or, to simply re-energise because I'm low.

But the question is, should I pay for this advantage in some way? -1pt, -10pts, ... 1 reward point at the end? Or just leave as is. It could be modified as to not disturb the balance of the game, rate of progress etc. I'll think about that poll and maybe create one later.

I agree with all the defenders of this fantastic weapon. If you want this advantage you just should buy it. Now I'm upgrading this weapon cause I like this weapon like it is NOW and I don't want it to change. Then others players have an advantage to, you can come close to the thunder user with a double armor for exemple. Then, what the thunder have to do ? Wait for being destructed because he doesn't want penalty ? I think you all agree it would be worst than our actual advantage. then if you do'nt want the thunder getting benefice of his self destructung by killing you at the same time, just run away lol.

 

Then I should post it in an other topic, But I think freeze shouldn't freeze so fast and so long after he stops freezing you and something should be done with shafts because they really kill the game, something like no more than 2 shafts / team or dunno what...

Well I won't be spending any more time in the forums then splitterpoint, unless I have complaints that is or I get an apology. I had a suggestion to discus with fellow players so I have submitted it to the General forum which is for that very purpose. The subtitle says, "suggestions & ideas". My poll, which I can't get added to the current thread, gets locked for a reason the moderators are incorrect about and I'm unable to respond.

I won't be adding any feedback because I've not adequately discussed it. Never mind.

pauliuspr, pressing delete still gives an attacker crucial time to kill you before you self destruct. I never counted it for that reason and because you need it sometimes, eg, belly up.

Thanks FederalBureauFBI, thanks for the info on where to find the poll option once a thread has started. We're not all tanki forum experts. I didn't mean to be awkward. I was genuinely wanting some serious discussion on how players felt. As a paying customer, I thought my input might be valued. Doesn't matter now. Feel a bit unvalued.
