How common are heavy thunder protection paints at higher levels?

I'm relatively low rank but have been having immeasurable success with my mammoth+thunder combo.

However, I was told by a higher rank friend that I should stop using thunder because, although it is very powerful, it is that power which causes large amounts of thunder protection to be used at higher levels which outweighs its strength.

Is this true? And if it is, is it still good to use thunder?

There are loads of cedars, emeralds, and Rustles out there. But If you are a skilled thunder player, you shouldn't worry ;)

Twins though, on the other hand.....

At the level I'm used to playing, most of them are using emerald, second is picasso and clay and rustle then the cedar, inferno, but no many players are using urban and prodigi and the least is needle...I think now you get the idea of what to use as you main turret..

Btw,TDM on medium to large maps require long range weapons.

As for me, I use Freeze as short range, Thunder as medium, and Rail & Smokey as long range.

You might want to use Firebird instead of Freeze as you prefer to play TDM instead of CTF.

Yes, it will take some time to take down those enemies, so just camp like hell.

Thunder is still a good weapon, though you need more skill than before the rebalance because of the so many Rustle, emerald and cedar users out there.

Twins is way better, protection paints against twins are useless if they come close to you.

Smoky is good aswell, since there ain't so much protection paints used against smoky... the critical hit doesn't get affected.

I must say I see less thunder protection paints over time... it was chaos just after the rebalance.

^This, because you see so many Thunders now, a lot of players bought a Thunder protection paint. Result? Less people will use Thunder, which is logically followed by a decreased use of Thunder protection paints. By the time you reach the higher ranks (where you can buy the best paints), Thunder will be less common and so will the paint. So stick with what you are good at and keep using Thunder it that is what you like.

I have seen many DM battles where Thunders were first, even though many players were using a Thunder protection paint. Thus, even with those paints, Thunder is a good weapon.

Ohh, yes... that must be the cause.

But as soon the thunder start to be less common, people will use them again, thus the protection paints will come back.

I'm best with thunder, I'm sticking with it as soon as I reach enough for twins M3... smoky isn't anything better than thunder.

There are still lots of Rustle users out there, but they've decreased so much after the start of the rebalance.
