My dad told me to look at it. Extremely fascinating..... many hurt because i think (and correct me if im wrong) the pressure of the meteor entering earth's atmosphere caused windows to break and hurt people.

correct . being more accurate the meteor is very fast , about 40-50 times speed of sound . and its like punching a bucket of water .

more over as sson as it enters atmosphere you get a 'sonic boom'
