[Issue 9] Beauty in Tanki

We, at Tanki, are fortunate enough to have a game with loads of weapons, hulls, and paints. The amount of different combos we can have is pretty phenomenal. But what of these combinations is the best-looking?

This newspaper issue has seen an article by Lhamster addressing the matter of the best combo used for gameplay. This article expresses the other side of the spectrum – the beauty of the tank. Tanki is a beautiful game, and the tanks are one of the epitomized examples of this. Different shaped hulls and weapons provide a diversity to this game that sets it apart from other simple games that follow similar tank-style game play. I'm going to run through my top three favourites of the three different Tanki sections: weapons, hulls and paints.

Firstly, the weapons. Weapons are pretty much like the T-Shirt on a man. They are the show-point of what your wearing, and a weapon sticks out. Its like the show-off point – and trust me, you need good show-off points if you want a nice combo. Obviously, every weapon differs in looks, but I'll put in my favourite three here.

3. Ricochet

Starting this off is Ricochet, which is my third favourite weapon in regards of looks. Reason being? The shape, to start with. Ricochet, having a neat base, with a medium-length turret sticking out, is shaped beautifully. In my opinion, its the perfect shape – having just long enough at the turret to gain notice, but not overwhelmingly large (you'll know what I'm talking about when you see a Railgun-Wasp). And I didn't even mention the orange hints inside the gun, and the beautiful green board on the back of the m3 weapon. I must say, for Ricochet to be so low needs some seriously beautiful weapons to be above.

2. Twins

And Twins fits that bill completely. I rate it second. The thing that makes me adore Twins is that double-turret sticking out the front. Its like an epic version of two-for-the-price-of-one. Again, it is a relatively large base, with a nice slim turret(s) sticking out. The smooth look on the top of the m3 as well can't go unmentioned. Though I must admit that Twins is not my favourite game play weapon, it sure looks good.

1. Firebird

I rate at the top of weapons, my favourite weapon in every aspect of the game – Firebird. Before the graphics update, it looked even more awesome, but still this gun holds that truly epic feeling about it to me. It may be due to the fact that I used it for ages during my low ranks, and possibly due to the fact I won “Best Of Firebird” with it – but I have a soft spot for this weapon. Again, like Ricochet, it holds a neat medium sized base, with a turret similarly shaped to Rico's. Similarly to both of the above, M3 is my favourite in looks as it compliments the paint below, with its Metallic strips by the side. Firebird wins the race for the most beautiful weapon in my book.

Now, its time to move on to the more plain look of the tank – the body, better known as the hull. Hulls have a massive difference, from the midget Wasp to the humungous Mammoth, there's one for every size of tanker. I have to admit, my three below are pretty much my far and away winners. So what rules in looks?

3. Dictator

I know a lot of people would disagree with me here, but Dictator, in my opinion, is a beast-looking hull. Its size is pretty sizable, in all honesty, but the way it sits up for the weapon to have a nice position on top suits my taste. Its height is particularly huge, comparatively to the other hulls, but that's why I think it's so good. The difference of it, and I must say – whoever designed the 3d file of this deserves a big round of applause. Dictator's shape is pretty epic.

2. Hornet

Completely different, Hornet sits in second, a casual quarter of the size of Dictator. Before I start, I must say – I'm generally not a fan on symmetry on a hull. However, I have to give an exception for Hornet. The smooth way it runs – it almost looks like its gliding over the ground casually all the time. A very common tank in the battlefield, I must put this in on second.

1. Hunter

Hunter. The name sounds epic in itself, doesn't it? This tank looks truly beautiful with pretty much any weapon. The straight formation, with the curve downwards at the front – its basically my dream look on a hull. If looks counted over everything else in Tanki, I wouldn't even have to consider my hull – I'm pretty sure my mouse is automatically programmed to click on Hunter. An amazing shape, with amazing details as well – Hunter is my favourite tank.

So with just the paint to go, we have a Firebird-Hunter equipped on my dream tank. But now the decorations really get started. What paint will cap this all off? The amount of difference on paints in Tanki is massive. Some are clearly just for camouflage, others for show-offs. But what is my favourite?

3. Taiga

Some of you are probably trying to remember the look of this paint right now, it's that uncommon in battles. However, Taiga is an amazing paint, as well as having the benefit of a nice camouflage in darker maps. I so love this paint because of the mixture of colours. With a darkish grey shade, black, with the very occasional creamy yellow dropped in carefully, the colours merge in so well on a tank that I saw it and decided that this had to be in my top three. And I'm telling you, the next two are even better.

2. Emerald

If you haven't seen Emerald in battle, particularly playing the high ranks, you need to get your eyes checked on. Emerald is the big-boy paint of the high ranks. Holding massive protection on two of the most common weapons (Thunder and Twins), this paint is unmissable in the average game at a high level. However, Emerald stands out for me because of the looks. Green is my favourite colour in real life, and if I wanted a favourite green, Emerald would pretty much fit. That darkish yet shiny shade of green that we see so often in Tanki has got to be one of the best looking colours in the entire world, yet alone paints in Tanki.

1. Hohloma
For those who know me, you would know that this was going to hit the top position on best looking paint. This paint has been my dream since Day One. I bought it at a WO1, when I only had a Tier 1 M3 combo (pre-rebalance obviously). This paint, though not the best colour ever, holds all you would ever want to see on a tank. Having the dark shade of black would be pretty epic in itself, but the pale yellow decorations sitting pretty on the top just transforms this paint from mediocre to truly epic. My favourite paint, Hohloma.

Thats hard to choose...

I would say I love Smoky, (my second account is )

And the best hull is.. mammoth titan hunter hornet wasp dictator viking

WASP SMOKY looks very good, but it was really better before 1.100, it was beautifull.

Now for the paint, Spark looks great..

So my combo is

Wasp + Smoky + Spark

To update..

LOL, reminds me of my early days......m3 Firebird with m3 Hunter and Alien! Loved that combo at only First Sergeant and was not a buyer! I agree with you in terms of beauty but I'm liking Freeze+Viking in terms of effectiveness. But this topic is about beauty and I agree with you in every way. Hohloma is an awesome paint it's almost undescribably beautiful!

Mammoth is the best looking hull, Hunter is uglier than dictator -.-

-->

just shows some people have different tastes :P

9 weap. * 7 hulls * 80 paints (holidays counted) = 5040 combo. We have choices.. But everything M3

If we count the M's, we have

36 weap.*28 hulls*80 paints = 80640 combos

And if we count the maps, (the beautifullest combo in a map) we have

36*28*80*50 maps = 4 032 000 Differents combo !

Tbh, I don't really like the look of M3 hunter, it's not as sleek as some of the other tanks. My favourite looking would be hornet, freeze, emerald.

Firebird and hoholma?

That must've been Hogree's post.

Seriously, I didn't take a look at the topic maker before I started reading, but I knew it in miliseconds... I only had to scroll up to check.

Dheh.... mehehe.
