Spending crystals or any kind of money at all is fun. There is this adventurous and satisfied feeling you get when you click the 'buy' button in the garage. But after update 123, and even after the recent update 144, crystals aren't earned so easily. When you save, the crystals don't add up as quickly; when you spend, they just seem to go down the drain. That's why you need to learn to save crystals as much as possible and give yourself a budget. In this article, I will talk about learning to spend wisely, a habit that not only applies to Tanki, but also to your personal life.

Look at the options:

One of the hardest parts about spending crystals (or money) is deciding what to buy. What do you want? What do you actually need? How many crystals are you willing to spend? All of these things need to be considered carefully. Quick decisions and hasty purchases must be avoided at all costs. Remember to look at your options. If you see an item that you like, and are willing to buy it, don't be hasty. Look around a little bit more because there may be something else that is cheaper and you like better. This applies both to Tanki and to life. I once had some spare money, so I went to the store and bought myself a really cool toy sword--the kind that you can have epic battles with. The next day I saw an amazing dart gun at the store that was cheaper, and, if possible, even cooler, but I had already spent my money on the sword. I was so sad... That, as you have probably guessed, happened years ago, but I still remember and regret it to this day.

Tips for choosing:

Guns and Hulls:

There are nine guns and seven hulls. This gives you so many options that it's hard to decide what to buy. All of them are different; most of them seem good. It’s best not to buy every single weapon. But then how can we know what's best? One way is to ask people. There is a thread in Off-Topic Discussion called 'What to Buy, What to Use' where you can ask questions about what is better to get. If you've been lied to in your life, and you don't trust people, another thing you could do is try the weapons out for yourself. Create as many alternate accounts as you need, (it's not against the rules) and buy different weapons and hulls on them. See what you like best. Save the crystals on your main account for what you plan on upgrading. I, for one, have 11 different accounts that I test different weapons on.

Paints:

There are fifty paints (not including green paint) ranging in price from 100 crystals to over 200 thousand crystals. Some paints protect against damage, others are better for camouflage, but all of them are unique. When you are thinking about what paint to buy, consider your game play. Are you a camper and you need camouflage? Do you need maximum protection because you love to attack? If you are thinking about protection, look around the battle field. What guns are most popular or what guns annoy you the most? Get a paint that protects you from them. If you want camouflage, consider the maps you play on. What paint blends in the most? Get it.
Paints are expensive, and you can still win battles without them. They are just helpful additions to your tank. If you ever have to choose between buying a paint and upgrading your tank, don't hesitate to upgrade your tank.

Budget and When to Buy:

Once you have some options in mind, it is best to make a careful plan of what you are going to buy. Keep track of your crystals and stick to your plan. If it seems like you have extra crystals, don't buy anything you don't really need. They will come in handy in the future. For instance, when you get tired of all the druggers, you may want to start playing in no-supplies battles. Joining one costs 500 crystals, and getting month-long No Supplies Battle Pass (NSBP) costs 5000. That is a good choice if you plan on using it often. If you don't want to pay that many crystals you can always create your own no-supplies battle which you can join for free. The only problem is getting other people to join it.

Even if you have already chosen what you want to buy, buying it right away is not always the best decision. If you know that a discount may be coming soon, it's best to have patience and make your purchase then. If you have already bought what you need, and after that there is a discount in the garage, don't waste your crystals on things just because they are cheaper at the moment. It's still wasting crystals and you may regret your decision later.

Conclusion

Now that you know a little bit more about saving money and spending it wisely, don't forget it. Being careful with your money is not only helpful in getting a good garage, it is crucial to your success later in life. Good luck buying.
