Free Camera

How do I take pictures/video capture tanki without my own tank in the way? I have seen several tanki videos that don't have a tank in them at all. For instance, the final plasma tournament on cybersport league website. I have always wondered about this.

 

Is this a developer privilege, or if not, how can I do it?

By no tank at all, I mean that the person doing the recording doesn't have his own tank visible.

^Yeah I guess so. Well, at the moment, the Spectator mode is avaliable only to Mods, DJs and Admins. It's not available to normal players because, through the Spectator mode, you can see both teams' private chats, aswell as their mines and even health. Plus, you can secretly enter the battle without being listed in the list of battle players.

 

There are rumors that the Spectator mode will be given to players at some point, when they make another version of it, which won't have the same abilities as the current one, but nothing is sure.

 

My personal opinion, it would be better to just give us a 'free camera', which would literally mean that - you enter in the battle normally, with your tank, and when you want, you hit a button and you can move across the map with the camera. This way, firstly, everything will be normal - you won't see enemy's chat, mines and health and also, you will be in the battle, with a tank and everyone will know you're there.

The only problem is that many people can decide to enter the battle and start playing around with the camera, while their tank stays inactive, thus - they'll be sabotaging. But I think that can be avoided by placing an option in the battle creation form, which will ask the battle creator, to allow free camera in the battle, or not. Also, every battle where the free camera is available, can have a special sign in the lobby, this way all the players who enter will be aware that the camera will be available, so they will enter at their own risk (the risk - some people may sabotage, as I stated above)

 

Such free camera was planned for 2.0 and is still available in the demos (1 and 2)

Although a free camera would be good for some intents, it would be too easy to use for sabotage purposes.

 

I would prefer camera controls with the tank at center instead, such as using F and R to rotate the camera to see behind the tank.

@split Sir, I posted it here, so people can discuss it :P Devs already know about it, as you can see it's even made in the 2.0 demos, which means they may add it in future - they said most of the things planned for 2.0 will be added to the game.

How do people that are able to use spectator mode activate it? I know I can't use it but I am just curious. The mouse for camera angle is all I know.

They have an extra option when they want to join a battle: 'Enter as Spectator'

I saw this once in the cyber channel videos.

 

 

I think they control the camera with arrow keys and q and e, but I'm not sure.

As for the controls, as far as I know, it's WASD for moving, Q, E for up and down, arrow keys, or mouse drag is camera (setting angle) and holding shift and one of the keys is go faster.

Probaly not, because its a permission they can only add to a user account. Not to only 1 single battle I think.

Thanks so much FBI. I have been wondering about that for a long time (this is an alt). I really appreciate the good answer! And I hope they let players do it eventually. It would be cool to watch the championship matches the clan I started doesn't compete in!

That's not spectator anymore, it has nothing to do with it. Ban powers are a completely different thing.

Their wedding was streamed by DJs, who have this mode.
