You have read stories about Tanki. You have read stories about the tanks themselves. But have you read a story about yourself in Tanki? What would you really do?

6:30. A gust of wind. The rusty old clock near the town hall in Perm, Russia, clanged. Tiny sprinkles of rust fell out of its steel insides. The rusty sprinkles just happened to fall in the untrimmed hair of an unsuspecting teenage boy. The boy scratched its hair to clean out the filthy substance.

“Don’t scratch, take a shower...” Smiled impishly the boy’s friend, Vasily.
“Shut up!” Replied the recipient, Lev. “You should be thankful I even came with you.”

The boys were heading to a street phone to make a call. A payment call, addressed to Vasily_assasin_911, the username of Vasily’s Tanki Online account. A call worth 4800 crystals.

“Besides, it’s not my fault your parents took your cell phone away from you” Continued Lev, “You’re the one who pays for crystals like a complete sissy...”
“Shut up Lev!” Barked Vasily, “You told me to rank up! I don’t want to spend my savings on EXP!”
“Sure... Sissy.”

The boys reached a public telephone. Vasily entered the number code and rang. Silence. Some university student ran past Lev, pushing him aside in his attempt to catch a nearby bus. Lev quietly swore at the rushing student.

“Sorry, the subscriber’s telephone is not active...” Came a voice from the receiver.
“What the... Lev, are you sure this is the code?”
“Sure.” Lev casually said while still swearing at the student in his head.
“Weird... Well, let’s go home. It’s about to rain soon anyway.”
“Too late” Lev wiped off a droplet of water from his cheek. “We should run.”

The two boys rushed down the street, fearing that their parents would kill them for getting their clothes soaked. However, the two were soon running through a torrential downpour. Out of nowhere, Vasily stopped.

“Come on, what are you waiting for?” Lev angered.
“Look! It’s a Tanki online poster. I didn’t know they advertised in the street now...”
“Yeah, cool, whatever. Let’s run!”
“There is something shiny on the paper. Is it glued on top of some sort of lamp?”
“Probably, let’s go!”

Vasily touched the poster. He gasped. Lev looked at him in terror and immediately grabbed his friend. Lightning struck. After the flash both boys were gone without a trace.

(...)

Vasily slowly opened his eyes. It appeared as if the rain had stopped.

“Maybe I caught some electricity from touching that lamp and fainted. Lev must have carried me here... But where is here?”

Vasily saw a silhouette in the distance. It appeared as if that silhouette was running around and shouting.

“WHAT THE HELL?! HOW? HOW DID I GET HERE?!” could be heard from a distance.

Surely that was Lev. Oh damn. He was coming nearer. Vasily shrugged.

“I WILL MURDER YOU VASYA! WHERE ARE WE? “ Lev was hysterical.
“Calm down. Aren’t we in.... wait.”

This was not the back yard of the apartment building. This wasn’t even in town... Green fields and short trees covered the land as far as the eye could see. How will he get home, Vasya asked himself, what will his parents say? Moreover, how would he get to his parents? Millions of tiny spiders crawled up Vasya’s back. He was in terror.

Lev wasn’t any better. He had gone through the same – being four months older, he would have to take care of Vasily. Food? Water? Fire? How will they survive? The boys looked each other in the eyes and tried not to burst into tears of despair.

“OK, let’s be rational. Two 16-year old punks in the wilderness. Not to say that you nearly got us killed last time we were on summer camp, so we’re pretty much doomed.” Vasya didn’t look encouraged. Then he spotted something.

“Is that... a dam?”

He was looking at a construction roughly half a mile ahead.

“So we’re near a city?” Lev’s face shined.

The two boys sprinted toward the man-made structure. Salvation! Finally, they wouldn’t worry about their survival. The next city, wherever it was, wouldn’t be too far away. There were surely roads. All roads lead to somewhere. They could hitchhike. Lev felt some spare change in the wallet in his jeans’ pocket. There was hope.

They stopped in front of the supposed dam and circled around in search of a road. The “dam” was apparently some sort of crumbled old wall. Nope. Just concrete chunks scattered around in the dirt. The spiders of fear started crawling on the kids’ backs yet again. They looked up at the sign on the wall:
