Smoky cannot be equal in power.

I can't talk about lower modifications, but at M3 is great. Is rare the game you don't see some of them. Well played, you can beat almost any gun, great range against melee weap, some recoil that can make thunder and rail miss, those ricos on light tanks are easy to take out from medium range. And it makes thunder better, some of those anti-thunder paints are switching to anti-smoky paints, making the life of thunders out there easier ;) . So, in general, very good weapon.

but smoky has a longer range advantage and crits r pretty common

you are at a rank where smoky M0 is the only one available, i am at ranks where people have smoky m2 and m3, heck i have m2 which is why i posted this. Think about it. M3 mammoth and smoky m3 vs. m3 mammoth and twins m3 who wins? The twins!

That's if the battle is basicly two tanks standing infront of each other and just keep fireing. A battle isn't like that. If you'd ask me what I think of Smoky as an user of Hornet/Railgun, I'd say without doubt it's the most annoying weapon to meet and it's the weapon I have the highest respect for. Of course the enemy Smoky can be a very unskilled player, but I still get a bit more cautios even then.

Why? Becouse it can hit you at any distance, shot travels in no time, it fires fast and of course... it probably have the strongest hit-effect on the tank, making it very dangerous.

It's definelty worse to be hit my one Thunder-shot than one Smoky-shot, as Thunder takes more damage per hit, but Thunder weakness alot over a distance and I often keep myself at a distance.

Anyway, my point is, I think the game is very good as it is (seems like that to me anyway), except I think Shaft needs a buff (though I read it have faster charging time now).

There is a very small chance that smoky will get a critical hit, and even when they do its not a certain K.O. Smoky is extremely weak outside of a critical hit, and all theh other weapons are always strong. So, it is logical to conclude that smoky cannot be equal in power.

No, I tried it, everything's OK with it's critical hit. Even without critical hits Smokies are powerful, you know... It shoots fast and I like it. That's it.

You have made dozens of topics where you were complaining a certain turrent/hull, for that you now got 25 negative votes on your profile. Stop it now! When will you understand that all the turrents ARE equal. There was a lil' bug on Freeze and devs already fixed it. There's nothing to fix now! Tanki is this now, no matter you like it or not. I didn't like the rebalance but I DIDN'T make a topic about it. I knew that Freeze is over-powered a little bit but I still DIDN'T make a topic about it. I know that in fact there's no difference between Thunder M2 and M3 but I still DON'T make a topic and complain everything I don't like. I know that if something isn't OK devs are gonna fix it. They work for it. And if I couldn't explain everything, check this topic out.

A weapon may seem annoying when you aren't using it, but when you decide to use it you may find it to be hard to use. I have M1 smoky, and in my opinion I'd wish I'd saved up for M1 Isida. M1 Smoky has decent fire rate, but the base damage makes it annoying. Usually I end up sitting there holding space and just waiting for them to die, which takes a long time.

I was WO5 last summer. there has been no rebalance yet. I bough M1 smoky at Second Lt.

And it worked well.

Did it work well for you from WO1 to at least WO5?

Yep, if there aren't any player using protection against smokey. I'm using a WO4 account with smokey and mammoth/wasp and having no problem playing with it.

Smoky M0, M1: Balanced

Smoky M2, M3: OP

Thunder M0, M1: OP

Thunder M2, M3: Weak

Overall: Yes, Smoky IS stronger than Thunder.

Smoky needs lots of skill to be stronger than Thunder. Railgun is much to strong and needs a longer reload time to be balanced.

You can make a probabilistic model of any two gun/hull/paint combinations and say what the %age chance of each winning is - its not exactly trivial to do but you can do it - there's an example in the Thunder/Smokey thread.

=====

The thing is - I play this game for fun; so I pick hulls and weapons I find fun to use, and play in battles I enjoy. Sometimes the "win" is a single flag capture against all the odds, or taking down an overpower enemy, just once - or even watching a very talented player give me a sharp lesson in tactics with a particular hull/weapon, and I'll have to figure out what to do.

====

That means I'm less bothered about which gun or hull is "best" or "overpowered", and more about what I enjoy playing with.

And no matter what the odds say, an expert with the right paint and hull to back up a given weapon, on the right battlefield, will dominate, especially when operating in an effective team.
