Micro-upgrades in progress

There was an idea to introduce a premium currency in Tanki 2.0. Then it was decided not to do it, never. Tanki will always be a game with 1 currency so that buyers and non-buyers are equal (as equal as they can be in a free to play game).

I disagree, having two currencies can actually help non-buyers by a lot; look at League of Legends as an example. It's been at the #1 position for multiplayer games for quite a long time and it's free-to-play, their business model is simply amazing. I'd talk more about how they keep it fair and make a crap ton of money by keeping it fair but I don't think anyone here would bother reading it :P

Having one currency actually makes it very unfair for non-buyers.

At the moment Tanki Online team is actively working on a much-anticipated feature of micro-upgrades.

Not everyone understands what it is and why it is needed. So let’s try to dispel the myths that are beginning to emerge around it.

Every weapon in the game has got a lot of different characteristics which you can upgrade by purchasing new modifications. Many players would like to improve certain characteristics of weapons and do it more often than it’s currently possible. The main idea of micro-upgrades is to make it possible.

Let’s take Smoky as an example. If a player wants to improve its maximum damage, he or she will be able to do this in several steps using micro-upgrades to the level of the next modification.

In the same way it will be possible to improve other characteristics such as turret’s rotation speed, rate of fire and so on.

Each micro-upgrade will cost a small amount of crystals and a period of time during which the upgraded weapon will not be available. At the same time you will be able to do everything instantly for an extra sum of crystals.

It is possible that micro-upgrade may not work. In this case crystals you’ve spent or a part of them may be given back to you in the form of supplies. There is also a chance to improve a characteristic by two steps in one micro-upgrade.

You will be able to upgrade not only M0, M1 and M2 weapons. After all the micro-upgrades an M3 can become a kind of M4. Paints will also be upgradable to a certain extent.

Your opponents won’t see that your weapons were upgraded as micro-upgrades don’t change the appearance of your tank.

Finally, there will be an ability to switch off micro upgrades in no-supplies battles.

Please share your ideas regarding the upcoming update here and feel free to ask questions.

Update: Here's a promised video in which our leading analyst Vasily Sabirov answers various questions regarding micro-upgrades. Enjoy!

Below you can find the list of upgrades for all turrets (as for hulls and paints, all of them will have the same upgrades). The list is not final and some changes may be made to upgrades before the release.

Do we get all of our crystalls back?

No

Quick question, can you micro-upgrade special paints?

For special paints without protection (like Staff ones) - no, since you can upgrade only existing protections which such paints don't have :(

As for paints like Champion, Acid, etc. - I highly doubt they'll be MU-able, since they already have enough protection.

Probaly not, because they are temporarily.

Some of them yes.

All very good, but when do they come out, hen can we buy them?

When they're ready, this is being said atleast 5 times in each page of this topic. Seriously guys, just read before asking the same thing.

Currently there are some memory leaks in MUs, programmers are working on it.

THAT's good info, finally some good info on what they're working exactly instead of saying: they're working on it and for rest nothing. Ofcourse we know that they're working on it otherwise it'd be already released, thanks for this small but usefull information :)

Tanki Online,

Before the rebalance TO was a very fun game, I had an Isida M3 and a Hornet M2.

The Isida M3 was 4500, and Hornet M2 was 4000.

I was playing like a boss, I love the Twins M3. So I used Twins to.

Than the rebalance came. I didnt even look at the prices, and how powerfull other wapeons are.

Just clicked on Hornet, and buyed the M2. Than the Thunder M2, and that was very dumb.

So when my tank was ruined, I start playing Minecraft for like 6 months.

I'm in a hotel now, and I started whit playing TO again.

But somethimes I think: ''Damn, I better could buy Viking and Twins''.

And the micro updates are comming now? Thats going to ruin the gameI think.

Only if we get all of our crystalls back, because I know, Im not the only one that bought stupid things at the rebalance.

If we get our crystalls back, all the people knows. I'm not going to buy stupid things this time.

And the Rebalance was unfair, the noobs that are new? They needs to play months and months to get a M2/M3.

So the only thing that can safe TO. I think thats giving all the crystalls back to people.

Because they will buy GOOD THINGS THIS TIME.

And than the noobs can get their good wapeons, because so mutch noobs does have this: Isida M1. Twins M1. Freeze M1. Hornet M1. Viking M1.

So they can make 2 M2 out of that. Im not talking about a rebalance. Im talking about giving all our crystalls back.

And if we get all our crystalls back at this update.

Im sure Im going to no-live playing this game when I am back from school.

And maybe you guys saw, that my English is pretty bad.

Im comming from the Netherlands.

YES !!!

I want a rebalance now?

Some info:

Rebalance - changing guns/tanks/paints' specs. In future some minor changes of those specs can be done. But they won't be any dramatic changes, like in December 2012.

Refund - reseting your Garage and giving you back the crystals you spent. It happened with the rebalance in December.

However, there won't be any refund when the MUs come, simlpy because they won't do any changes to current specs.

Because you cant do this whitout a rebalance refund,

Yes, they can.

So why give MU's if they dont change current specs LOL

Lol, read main post and you'll understand. MUs are to allow you upgrade your stuff more frequently, thus, to upgrade your specs, if you want to. Not to change the ones you CURRENTLY have, no matter if you want it or not as the rebalance did. Example, you buy Thunder M1 which deals 100 damage. Then they change it to 10 damage, that would be unfair because you paid for nothing. So they give you a refund.

However, MUs won't change anything you already own.

LOL, ahah, SOO basically REBALANCE, so that made every upgradable thing few and far between, then they add MU's to that, why not jsut stick with tier 1 and 2 LOL another way to make money for tanki, force people to use more money to upgrade the mu's than it would cost from m0-m3 FUN

You can talk easy, you got unlimited crystalls... But when we are goig to get all our crystalls back? 1 year? 3 years? Never?
