Smoky vs.

Understand you need to know the math and you need to know the equipment your being confronted with. Also, the conditions your under and what type of team players you have. Coupling all this with how much skill you have and how well you can make your equipment sing! All this has to occur in your brain in the blink of an eye! This goes for any turret your running. You can not just point and shoot because the math say it's going to occur that way!

My suggestion is not to get so hung up on the math and just enjoy the game the rest will come. You will find a turret that you will love to use. One will really stick with you and it will be your baby! You have to crawl before you can walk! :)

Is Savanna preferred over Needle in Generallisimo battles?

Do you see a lot of Needle users?

I was wondering about this for a long time and was about to post it in the what to buy thread,

but you came in; and seem to be the right person to ask.

It's not common nor of those. I would say more savanna, but not by far. Honestly i think it's about preference, rico protection the same (5% difference is nothing), 8% difference in smoky for needle, wich is nice and finally shaft or rail, here came the personal choice, in maps like kungur, savanna is way more useful or in NS games. Basically you don't see many shafts except on very specific maps. My point is that after rebalance you could see only emerald and rustle, then more rock and now you can see the increment on savanna/needle. And with time, we will have more or less balance (tons of players say smoky is OP, but at the begining, no one used protection against).

The common paints I run across are Rustle, Inferno, and Emerald. Every now and then I run across the Rock usually on a the Twin. What you will start seeing more of is the Needle because Smoky is starting to show up quite often. Also, run across the Picasso.

About this matter:

One interesting thing I got to see about Smoky and Thunder after the changes is the "balancing" between these two weapons and their protective paints. When rebalance happend everyone bought Thunder and soon Emerald became the most used paint in the game. When people realized that Smoky was not as weak as before, after being totally destroyed by the few players who got Smoky right after rebalance, the amout of Smokys in battles started to grow, and the number of paints with smoky protection rose. At this point, battles were full of Smokys with Savanna, and the only thing that could harm such combination was the forgotten, and weak-deemed, Thunder. The number of Thunder Savanna combinations increased, as well as other weapon teamed with Savanna or Needle. Then, Thunder started to regain its effectiveness, since relevant anti-smoky paints don't have thunder protecion, and Emerald got back in the game. Currently we are at this point. (Generalissimo battles, mostly NS, are the ones taken in account)

Other protection paints are pretty variable, but Rock, Inferno, Prodigi and Rustle are the most common, followed by Picasso. Of course these information are taken from Generalissimo NS battles (Iran, Kungur, Red Alert, Sandbox...) where paints actually count.

I am talking about logical, battles, tank to tank, not with hiding or speed, complete logic and battle and statistics of victory.

Well, not really. If you are going to do this analysis properly you'd need to map out the probability functions for all of the weapons with variable damage per shot, as well as those pesky critical hits probabilities, and combine those to give an overall %age chance of success for each of the two tanks in the battle - that would be a full statistical analysis. It would be the same kind of thing they show on TV Hold 'em Poker games with the probability of each hand winning before some of the cards are turned. If anyone knows the math(s) and is motivated enough it would be interesting to see....
