Tanki Fanfic(s)~

Hello everyone, this is DarkLevianthan. I enjoy writing, and as such, have wanted to write about Tanki for quite a while now. This is a small, "test" story, so to speak, and I'd like to have a little feedback if you wouldn't mind. Please, no pointless flaming, but I'd appreciate it if anyone points out small errors or has a suggestion. Thank you, and I hope you enjoy the story. I know this may seem slightly selfish, but any encouragement is really appreciated. I'll try to make weekly updates.

Here goes, Part 1: Battle for the Ricochet

5/3/2042

6:00 AM

Five white objects sped across a frozen Siberian plain, with a single objective in mind. They were closely pursued by 2 more, larger objects, which were flying approximately 500 meters behind them. Close observation would reveal that they were large, armored vehicles. Tanks. Followed by Helicopters. Massive ones, CH-53E Super Stallion troop transport choppers.

The first two tanks sped forward, advancing ahead of the group. The rest came together to form a V formation, a protective, yet offensive maneuver. The lead tanks, M1 class Wasps were equipped with M1 Class Smoky 5’’ cannons: the standard Reconnoissance combination of the day. However, as aforementioned, these were M1 class: a step ahead of the standard M0-Smoky’s in the international market. They had been custom modified for power after purchase. A hidden feature of the M1’s were the introduction of EMP, or Electro Magnetic Pulse rounds: these special rounds would short circuit and shut down the electronic systems of hostile vehicles, disabling electronic countermeasures against missiles and the like.

The two surged forward as the drivers engaged their NOS (Nitrogen Oxide System), pumping Nitrogen Oxide directly into the engines of their tanks, causing them to roar as small blue flames erupted from the rear of the tank through the small exhaust vents. Inside the tank, Corporal Ryan Cooper, call sign “Nitro” from his racing days, was clearly smirking. It seems there wasn’t much difference between a Wasp and an armored dune buggy. Above him, in the gunner’s station, First Lieutenant Jefferson Wilkes sat silently as the compartment jolted every now and then.

Soon, their destination came within view: a series of underground bunkers surrounded by dome like structures thirty miles from the Ural Mountains. Inside of these hidden bunkers were the fruits of 3 years worth of extensive research on a secret plasma weapon, one that would have the capability of locking onto a target, and hitting it in unorthodox methods. Each plasma projectile had a deflection shield that had the capability of distinguishing terrain and target, causing the shields to lower only after a secure lock had been determined. Other details were currently unknown. However, what was known, was the fact that each bunker had it’s own unit of Spetsnaz paratroopers. An elite force. Intelligence had also discovered several armored formations situated around the compound, hence the need for M1 Class Vikings taking the rear of the American assault formation. They had been equipped with M1 Class Thunder cannons, the most powerful artillery gun in active service. Indeed, with its 1 ton fragmentation shells, it was a force to be reckoned with.

Simultaneously, coming from the North, opposite of the American force, 3 other tanks steadily approached the compound. They were Dictators, members of the Unité Blindée Première, proudly bearing the French Tricolor on their hulls. Mounted upon them were double barreled “Jumeaux” plasma cannons. This deadly weapon was mainly used for anti-armour purposes, but the searing plasma spheres could easily cut down hostile infantry. They too, were trying to obtain the weapon produced by the secret “рикошет” program. Truly, it was not the weapon itself that attracted so much attention, but the technology that had enabled energy projectiles to envelop itself with a protective force, the “force field” that enabled the projectile to bounce. To imagine the possibilities if one had enabled vehicles, per example, with this technology. They would be immune from any energy based weapons, they could not be tracked by means of radar, as the field would send the tell tale beam away from the sender. If the weapon was obtained, then the secrets could be revealed through reverse-engineering...

Inside the compound itself, a young radar operator looked up from his screen.

“Др. Ivanov, мы имеем несколько усилий закрыть внутри на этом положении,” he stated. (“Dr. Ivanov, we have several forces closing in on this location,”) Dr. Vladimir Ivanov was the head of research at the base, he had personally recruited the majority of the scientists stationed there, and had managed to keep them there for the duration of three years. At 6’ 3”, the 49 year old Russian man made quite the imposing figure.

“Предупредите охотники, дайте им заказы для того чтобы исключить обидчиков,” he replied. (“Alert the hunters, give them orders to eliminate the offenders,”) With a salute, the operator said,

“сделает, господин,” (“Will do, sir”) He then proceeded to speak into his throat mic, which was wirelessly connected to a radio kit.

“соколы, вы имеете зазор для того чтобы раскрыть пожар”

(“Falcons, you have clearance to open fire”)

Nice story :) .

My english teacher would give this an A, except the fact she might think that Ricochet was the verb form of the word, making the story title

nonsense :D

Only an A? I'd give this a straight A*! It was a really good read. I wouldn't be surprised to see an application to join the Tanki newspaper from you when there are free positions available once more. Because that's certainly newspaper standard!
