I dont know i have the same problem and i also use the other method to and that dosnt work for some reason so when ever i flip over i have to wait for some one to kill me just log off and on losing all my points :(

I've had this problem on another computer, sadly, I don't think it can be fixed. I tried and tried and could not find a way. Really try hard not to flip and see if maybe, just maybe, if an enemy could speak English or not and kill you somehow. Or, simply play on another computer.

Fn + del should work as said previously, I have the same problem when taking screenshots... I always need to press prtsc in combination with Fn.

And have you tried both del keys?
