Not so great. The topic starter can close his own topic even if it is active and there are good discussions going on. Maybe a vote system of some sort where if the topic starter and 5 other people agree to close the topic, it can be closed and not give power to just one person who can misuse it in a way.

That's why you only give trusted people the ability to edit your own post.

Or make it so that you have to have certain amount of posts (like 500-600) to use this ability. Now you may say "People will spam on random topics to get posts." They get banned, they get no more posts problem solved. Even if not solved. Then only those messages count which weren't:

 

1. Stupid
2. Spam
3. Trolling messages
4. Messages with swear words.

Problem solved, ain't it?

The duration of you guys are denying the idea purely because of the fact trolls will misuse totally forgetting about the people who will use it effectively; you guys seem to forget that the mods DO have a ban button and so therefore mods can USE this button to take out the trolls like they do everyday..

 

What you're doing is denying the good people ideas purely because of the minority that could be rid of with a single button; I find that to be totally absurd.

 

Kindly don't use that kind of colour on the Forum.

What if after pressing the lock thread button you must write in why you want to lock it? 

If the reason will be good enough the thread will be locked and if no - the thread would stay alive. Just say'in.
