The second installment dedicated to Medium Maps, and the last of the series CTF Focus, here's a mega guide to the most popular Medium Maps in Tanki, with tips and success guides for any rank! All of these maps are different in many ways, such as the in-map objects, gameplay, etc. Here's a long guide to the commonly played maps Boombox, Noise, Wave, and one that is less common, Atra.

Starting the long list of maps, is Boombox. Probably more common in lower ranks, it provides gameplay with a variety of surroundings throughout the map. The raised ledge in the middle, the buildings, trees, and some structures give lots of places to hide, camp, and a great amount of routes for players to take.

Things to Notice
> The large amount of buildings, the raised platform, and the trees give great spots for camping and hiding if they have the right paint.
> Flag can be covered through hidden areas, or places where they can defend without being in a line of sight until the opponent gets to the flag.
> Mostly three routes a flag bearer could go, the two sides, and the middle. This map is similar to sandbox with the same raised middle, but the different objects differentiate the strategies and plans needed to capture the flag.
> Raised middle can be an advantage to those who use it to cover, and attack when they kill their enemies.

Recommended Team
> Hornets (You see this a lot in my guides) for speed, a heavy tank for campers, and a medium hull to cover the the flag bearing tank.
> Any range of weapons work well in this map, because of the surroundings and objects in the map. There are camping spots for the short ranged weapons, as well as long ranged weapons, and medium ranged weapons are quite effective because of the size of this map.

Gameplay Strategies
A great and fast way to overcome a team's defense is to attack them from all directions. This will get them separated, and you have a better chance that if you have a larger swarm of tanks, they would be less reactive to what is going to happen. Have one tank go in first as a distraction, and get the others in as a backup and take out whatever tanks are between you, and the flag. Grab the flag, and whoever is close to the flag bearer, cover him. If not, just make sure the tanks either don't spawn, or cannot catch up with the flag bearer. Defensively, the only thing you need to be aware of is where your enemy is coming in. The flag stays in one place, so you should be more worried about where the incoming enemies are over where you are positioned.

A unique map where teams are practically trying to push either up or down steep slopes instead of wide open areas.

Things to Notice
> If you are on blue team, you are on the bottom of the map, attacking upwards, whereas the red team's base is on the very top of the map, attacking downwards.
> Attacking downwards may seem like an advantage, but you are walking straight into a base where there are only 3 exits out, defenders can easily slow you down, or even kill you before you can get out of the base.
> Attacking upwards makes a faster getaway, in which attacking downwards you get into the base easier, they are balanced.
> Mines are very effective since both bases have great camping spots inside the base, so you don't have to take damage if you are the defender.

Recommended Team
> Mammoths or other large hulls with medium ranged weapons, Hornets with low range weapons
> It is necessary that Firebird, Freeze, and Isida are equipped with light hulls because the speed is needed to keep the enemies from getting away. As well, those attacking could be slower in this case, because you mostly are jumping off cliffs to get to places (or that is a recommended way if you don't flip). It is more efficient than driving down slopes.

Gameplay Strategies
Mines are important in this map. Since there are lots of hiding areas inside the base, one can place lots of mines, and then hide to provide all the defense necessary for the team, while the others can attack. If you are playing NS or don't have mines, a simple way is to have a camping Freeze. The Freeze will slow down the enemies going for the flag, while you can grab the rest of your team in an all out attack. As well, some other strategies would be to attack in 2 groups. A great way to get away easily is to mine your trail and for whoever follows, they will be killed by the mine.

Wave is probably one of the simpler maps on this guide. It's simplicity contains a flag at either ends of the rectangular map, and 3 raised hills separating the flags. With two walls in the middle raised hill, it is practically all there is to this map.

Things to Notice
> Defending the flag is easier because of the isolated flag area. If you aren't close to the base, you would not know who and what is sitting in the base.
> Lots of open space, it is always an advantage if you are higher than your enemy.

Recommended Team
> Defending Mammoth Freeze
> Light/Medium Hulls for attacking
> Medium/Long range weapons, except for a defending Freeze
- It is necessary that for such an open map, you don't concentrate on getting close to your enemy to kill, because they can easily get backup.

Gameplay Strategies

Take your enemies down while you're far away, and stall as much as you can while you're inside the base so you can allow one tank to get away with your enemies' flag. If they can suppress the enemy from getting to your side of the map, bring your Freeze defender up, and while you attack, have the defender stall your enemies and slow them at spawn.

An exciting map with two paths going up to the top, and another path through the middle going down, it is very open except for a few walls and the slopes that block visibility.

Things to Notice
> This map is practically symmetrical, even sides
> Top area necessary if you would like to gain control over one's base

Recommended Team
> Any type of hull would be effective in this map, because if it's great area. Though light hulls are faster, their low health could make it more difficult to attack if they are in the line of sight at all times.
> Medium to Long ranged weapons, short ranged will be ineffective because of the open areas. Rail and Smoky are more effective.

Gameplay Strategies
Firstly, it is important that one or two tanks stay at the top of the map. It is the main way that people will be getting through to your base. Even if they choose to take the path at the bottom, they would be in your line of sight and sniping them off from the top would be easiest.

There's most of the small and medium sized maps you would play in your Tanki career! This marks the end of the CTF Focus series, my first done as reporter. Hope you guys enjoyed it and took something away. See you in the battlefield ^_^

Article is brilliant, pity about the map choice though, would be so much better if you used better maps ;) ... and three of those four (except noise) of those maps are "Small" maps. Medium maps are stuff like silence, molotov, iran and edinburgh.
