Thunder does make massive difference when maxed out the reload MU.

2.12 seconds feels close to an M0 Smoky.

Now it's seriously a shotgun, I'll upgrade the damage next and see what happens.

I'm thinking when I've maxed out the damage, you can kill M3 Hornets in 2 shots from close.

You talking about MUed M3 Hornets of course, right?. Cause max MUed dmg on Thunder is 103. Thus from close you would do 206 dmg. That would be enough for any normal Hornet to get 2 shotted from either close OR big distance.

Well, not really; stock M3 Hornets can't be killed in 2 shots with a stock M3 Thunder.

And now that you mentioned that people will upgrade their hulls aswell; which I totally forgot at the point I was making the post, I don't think Thunder will be able to kill those in 2 shots from close distance.

That would be pretty overpowered aswell.

Just because you own it, Thus I totally agree.  :P

of course it cant kill hornets m3 which are MU,but still 2 shoot from a thunder will send you almost to heaven or hell :D

i was in test server and i totally owned all the combos!!

except those with emerald, picasso and clay

and i felt so good,i had over 3 D/L in a world full of druggs and heavy hulls with the trusty viking m3 :D

Off-topic: the security check before signing in gets quite a challenge too........

Well I only did the maths for the reload time of the Thunder M1, now for the M3.....I am curious too.... :D

The fully MU 'd reload time of the Thunder M3 is 2.43 - 0.31 = 2.12 seconds

The total costs are than 153.162 crystals!

In percentage the reload time becomes 12.8 % faster!

This is way better than the mere 3.4 % you get on the fully MU 'd Thunder M1 reload time!

When the "clean" Thunder M3 does 100 shots, in the same time the fully reload MU 'd Thunder M3 does almost 113 shots.

Also in duels 12.8 % will make a difference. More than just the Placebo-effect..... ;)

Conclusion: at M1 a full reload MU is not worth it, at M3 it is: but it certainly comes at a steep prize....

Let 's say we want to improve it, but not completely. We take the reload time MU to step 5 for 25.510 crystals.

Exactly! 6 times cheaper than the full MU!

This will shave of 0.17 of the reload time: 2.43 - 0.17 = 2.26 seconds

This is 7 % faster! I would assume that will do for the most of us, and it is still quite effective! B)

You mad,bro?

he is not right :D

Rule No 1.  Smok-Ti-Thun is ALWAYS right

Rule No 2.  If not, see Rule No. 1

very small and almost invisible rule no 3.  only to be used

in case of calamities and/or emergencies: sometimes even S-T-T is wrong.....

I'm thinking when I've maxed out the damage, you can kill M3 Hornets in 2 shots from close.

Shotgun is a nice analogy, I always see Thunder as a pretty fast grenade-launcher:

When you shoot the grenade frontal against a nearby opponent,

he gets the full damage: but you too... :(

The further he is away (not too far..), the lesser you will get hit by the "shell-splinters"

spraying around: he still takes the full blow!

So if the enemy is upclose and it is possible, you better shoot at an obstacle like a wall:

in the best case more or less behind him, otherwise besides your opponent to let his hull

block some of the shell-splinters and receive less self-damage. B)

When shooting a grenade at an opponent in a group of tanks in front of you,

his hull will block the shell-splinters and the hulls behind him will not get damaged much.

That could be ok if the one in front is already "one shot kill-ready" and the ones

behind him are still "fresh", but the next option is preferable:

When you shoot the grenade at the opponent which is the one further behind in a group of tanks,

the exploding grenade will not be blocked by his hull and will also damage through the Splash

those other hulls in front and besides of him. This one shot or the next could finish them all...

The same maximized damage will occur when you shoot the grenade at the ground amidst of them,

or at a wall behind them.

Shooting a grenade at the ground is a great option (actually a must) which requires quite some skill.

This is how you do it:

You move forwards just a bit, then you make a sudden stop and shoot at the same time.

The nose of the tank and the turret will bend to the ground and so will the grenade!

This is very usefull when an enemy is hiding behind a building (obstacle) and there is no wall to shoot at

nearby him.

Just by shooting the grenade at the ground besides and a little behind the building as close as possible

to the enemy, the Splash will do full damage.

Shooting upwards is also possible. You simply do the opposite. Move backwards a bit and than make

a sudden stop and shoot at the same time.

Ofcourse shooting up- and downwards can also be done by balancing on a ledge,

but if you really want to master the Thunder, than you need to become very skilled in "rocking" your tank!

Just find an empty map, some ground and a wall and learn how to do it! :)

If you want to shoot grenades at a further distance than this is still possible.

But you will need to launch grenades with more propellent and less explosive charge.

They will still reach the enemy.....but the damage done will be a lot smaller!

Main rule: do avoid to waste your grenades at far distances, stick to close and medium with Thunder.

When everything is lost (for just a short while, though... ;) ) and you are preparing your "final" words:

you might still be able to kill your nearby opponent!

If you now for certain your own self-damage will finish you and he is damaged enough,

shoot your final grenade frontal and you will take him with you to Tankhalla! :D

@IceRugby: I guess people can stop saying that Smoky is always better than Thunder. :) Though I'm not sure who would think that. It all depends on how you play, and which maps you are in.

@Buggati: I'm not IceRugby, but since we're in the Thunder Discussion topic, I'll be the first one to type it. Thunder!

Agreed. Smoky is not always better than Thunder. I thought so for a long time, but in Polygon DM, from rank WO5: Thunder M1 with Cedar rules!

That is if you understand the workings of Spash-damage and use it properly!

After Thunder the number two could well be Freeze. Low D/L 's but a lot of kills too. Very strong opponents especially

with the Freeze M2.

Too many Freeze 's the game gets "killed" though also and looses it 's "pace".... :(

DidYouKnowThat one question: is Thunder a good choice to rank up to the highest ranks, or is an other weapon(s) more suited?

RIght now I have M0 Thunder and Twins, but I only plan to use one or the other.

Which one do you guys recommend me to get? I've only got three hulls, hornet, viking, and mammoth, and I mainly only play medium-small sized maps like Silence.

Use Thunder, its a lot more fun to use and people hate you less. Also, Thunder is more versitile.

Yep! Thunder for the above reasons!

Certainly the part: people hate you less. Last match I did I had the "pleasure"

of the almost ultimate "annoyance": a continuously firing Twins.......

Thought those "space-bar lockers" got extinct in the higher ranks, but nope here was one: alive and well!

Fortunately he had a Hornet ánd I put in some extra effort to silence him as often as possible!

The joy of those moments of peace....... :D

Come on Bugatti.....are you one of those "noobs" totally high on drugs, speeding around without any technique,

often barely moving their turret (ooh...can you rotate that gun?....I did not know that..... ;) )

and with a very, very heavy thumb on the space-bar? :P

I mean the gun, which lacks any fun: Twins??? :D

But in your list I also see Smoky M3 ánd Rico M3: so that soothes my mind,

at least you understand the concept of fun! ;)

So after the summer it will be: "Sir, may I ask you something...."

Sir, just kidding ofcourse! :)

If somebody likes to play Twins that is perfectly allright, and he can be a nice guy/girl too. No irony this time!

But, always the but, Twins get on my nerves somehow and that is my problem not theirs.

Well to be totally honest, sometimes I make my nerves their problem too.....sorry.... :D

If you do obtain the Rico M3 please inform us how you fare with that weapon. I am really curious!

It is high on my list too. After Thunder ofcourse..... :P
