this turret is more talked about than any other hull or turret

it is truly the best turret in the game (this is my opinion)

why do people talk about this turret so much?...........

Multiple unique properties: splash damage, self damage, etc...

I hate this turret, M2 and M3 1 hit me with double damage since I have no protection paints. And when you combine it with the fact that practically everyone who has M2 and M3 have digital or prodigy, my rail becomes useless. Still, I suppose that's why everyone loves it. Although, I would still never buy it since it doesn't really fit into my gamestyle. With my luck, I could be out with Thunder, and then a rail comes along and kills me.

Consider getting Cedar if you only need protection from Thunder. It's relatively cheap and a good deal, since it has as much Thunder protection as Rustle (32%). My Cedar has been with me since WO3 (from a kit a while back), and it's saved my hide multiple times. It makes M2 Thunders only slightly stronger than M0 Thunder, which we can all agree is not a big threat to M1s or M2s.

I also need rail protection as well. I was thinking sandstone, then emerald when I can get it.

That's common given the amount of Prodigis in-game. I'll soon be joining the bandwagon.

I retract this - I don't really want to join such a mainstream bandwagon.

I'll get Smoky, Isida and Taiga.

I would purchase Sandstone now, and then instead of getting emerald just buy clay and MU:)

You may want to get a different paint more suitable for m3s later on as you go passed brigadier level because sandstone is pretty much an m2 type paint whereas once you passed brigadier, you will pretty much be battling it out among m3s as well for that gold, flag capture, and kill. A few good paints to consider I think are irbis, emerald and inferno just because you can get the relatively earlier than some other m3 paints plus they provide protection to turrets that can be upgraded to m3 in battle.

thunder, in my opinion is a excellent weapon in mid-range maps with a bunch of cover, one problem i always encounter is the sluggish reload, kinda why i switched to smoky :D ,thunder can be easily dodged unless used by a professional, most of the time they miss and with my smoky i shoot em once, get back in cover as i watch them miss get outta cover and repeat until they're dead, once i was facing a pro, he shot and flanked me, i actually congratulated him :D ,weapons aren't good or bad, it's the player. :D

 Dude, Isida's are all over the place.

That's different - all turrets are common since there's such a little amount of them overall.

There's a ton of paints, however, and I can't go a match without seeing at least two Prodigis. I understand why it's overused, since it's a quality paint - just that I don't want to be a part of it.

I'll likely get Prodigi when I get to Marshall. Is it overused? Sure. Is it good? You bet. I like the massive amounts of Thunder, Railgun, and Shaft protections you get when you fully MU it.

Until then, I'll use (soon-to-be-acquired) Sandstone, which is basically a weaker Prodigi if you think about it. With some MUs in the Thunder, Railgun, and Shaft protections, it'll remain useful up until I get Prodigi.
