Well Thunder is good in:

CTF: You can be very successful; inflicting a lot of damage in general and REALLY effective if the opposition is crowded near the flag. Triple killz4dayz.

TDM:  you can do damage to a lot of people, scoring loads of points.

DM: Awesome  weapon here due to your killing abilities; killing people hiding, good kill stealer (Thunder can get kills on it's own very easily)  and double kills.

CP: And do not get started about a 1-point CP match...

Large maps are good because, well Thunder has an impressive range (one of the best). Small maps are good and bad because: 1: the self destruction plenty comes into play but 2: your enemies are close together.

So yeah. Thunder is good anywhere (besides the obvious extreme close range) :)

thanks for that Gentleman, appreciate the info, cheers

p.s you keep smiling there Dark.Shado...lol :D

not sure if you still want advice, but walls are your friend with thunder. Any map with a lot of walls or buildings can do well with thunder, as you can abuse the splash damage to no end (just avoid ping pong and possibly arena and you'll get a very good score)

Thanks TheKillerPenguin and Pizzaslad for that advice. So just another question if i may, what battles are more suited to Thunder?I really enjoy using it and the splash damage is handy when hulls are hiding behind walls...etc..I may be asking too much of my Thunder , my fault i guess but I will stay with it indefinately.I always find myself wanting to compete with Shafts in long range battles.....lol,i know they are possibly out of range but i guess its to  just try  to prove a point that not everyone needs a scope ,waiting for hulls to pop up in its circle sights and a hot cup of tea and lets not forget about their best friend   Isida's to finish charging them up,helps for their roots to imbed themselves even deeper in the soil I hear...lol..., and fuel is expensive to travel too much,yes????..lol...lol..but still all in good fun.

                                     Cheers.

p.s....hey their arent any Shaft guys on this Thunder forum is there???.....lol...just messing around Guys.....lol

Thunder's great for just about any game mode. In CTFs, you can blast groups of defenders with splash damage from a distance. In CPs, you can do the same (especially on single-point maps). It's good for getting kills/points in DMs and TDMs too, so you really can't go very wrong with it. As for maps, try to stick to medium-large ones so you can take advantage of your range and avoid self damage.

As a dedicated Shaft user (I prefer mine with Hunter for mobility), I'm here to say that your Thunder unfortunately won't fare very well at sniping. If you're far away, Thunder's more of a minor annoyance than a real threat. If you want to attack Shafts from long range without using a Shaft yourself, Railgun's just about the only option. And even that doesn't always work if you're up against someone who knows what he/she's doing. ;)

With Thunder you need paint protection from thunder to protect yourself , I find so many tanks coming right up to me knowing that I may end up self destructing. Of course it does not help my situation as I use mammoth or titan which is hard to move away from enemy tanks.

Still I love my M3 Thunder fully Mu'd.

Thunder Viking in Silence CTF is a bad idea. Use Smoky Hornet and you've got all the caps :)

*Cough* Rail Hornet :P... But you're right, if the map is too complex (i.e. lots of surfaces) thunder is a bit of a haphazard choice... And Viking doesn't suit the attacking/defending ratio.

I won the 2nd round and got 90% of the caps - 1.5k reward! :P

You could read my Thunder guide.  I gave some tips about avoiding self damage.

thunder m1 viking m1 was my first m1 combo & it'll be my first m3 combo as well

the main reason i like thunder is bcuz of its splash damage & it unlocks early at m2 & m3(not at m1)

Looks like you are looking for Thunder and Railgun protection together, right?  Then I think that Prodigi would suit you better.  Especially if you want to MU, where you get 50% off Railgun and 43% off Thunder.  Or you could just wait till you can purchase Clay.
