Honestly, thunder is really weak. I say smoky any day. My M3 thunder (10/50) has been a huge disappointment for me so far. M2 smoky can hold its own against m3 thunder any day. The damage tables must also be wrong. Withing maximum damage range, my thunder should be able to two shot stock m3 hornet with no thunder protections. However, this never seems to be the case. They should either buff thunder or fix the damage tables so at least they don't mislead players like me into making poor purchases. M3 seems to have the strength you'd think a M2.5 turret would have.

I think you should continue upgrading it. I've faced M4 many times (with double damage) and it is a beast even though I have emerald.

I saw thunder M3 in action. It took Thunder M3 2 shots to kill me while I was hornet M1 with 0 upgrades. That's the same amount of shots it takes for thunder M2 and M1 to kill M1 hornet. You should test the thunders out to see what the difference is. Cause there isn't much. Thunder M3 should be able to kill M1 in one shot. If your worried that it will be too strong then just put the price up for the M3 version to make it fair for players. Also increase the price the upgrades cost.

you deserve coke

Thunder's biggest disadvantage is self destruct. When you are pressed by Twins or Smoky, you got nowhere to go.

Especially on small maps, where players are using heavy hulls.

you do not deserve coke. Self-damage can be nerfed by using thunder protection and mammoth or titan. Edited by TTK_229

You know what grinds my gears?

Not being able to kill a Hornet M4 with my Thunder M3.96 in 2 shots from close range and it's not really the first time stuff like this happens to me.

Here's the math: Hornet M4 has 210 HP according to the wiki and my Thunder M3.96  deals 109.1 maximum damage per shot. So if I would hit the hornet with maximum damage twice I would deal 218.2 damage which is actually more than enough. The range of maximum damage of my Thunder is probably 69.7 meters (it seems to be half of the minimum damage range as it can be seen in the chart with characteristics on the wiki).

I remember hitting the Hornet from close range, defenetly not 70 meters and I needed 3 shots. It also has to be said that the Hornet did not have any sort of protection against Thunder so...Why does this happen?

Damage of shots can vary between lowest and maximum damage.

Your Thunder deals 77.2HP in the worst case, so it's possible that 3 shots are needed to kill a Hornet M4.

Range influences HP, but I believe the server also randomly chooses damage output.

The 109.1 is the max damage, the best case scenario... I don't think that your Thunder will ever reach those kind of levels.

77.2*2= 154,4 damage... so with (210-154,4)= 55,6 HP difference at the worst case.

That's quite a gap for the damage randomness stuff here,- increasing the likelyhood of 3 shots instead of 2.

Not 100% sure about this, so if someone has clear facts, please correct me if I'm wrong.

I have a feeling with the new alteration update we can expect more Thunders.. and more Thunder users means more protection against Thunder... thus decreasing the amount other turret protection paints (hopefully Rico in particular)

I feel ya there. It's getting frustrating to enter many battles only to find my M4 Rico is useless against all the protection modules running around. Kinda worried about the game becoming unplayable bc of this, but time will tell.

For that matter, game play will be interesting to watch for awhile. This was the first sale on Modules and I'm guessing many stocked up big time. I did. My guess is that anyone who becomes a PITA in battle will find enemies swapping out ports against his turret.

One thing is certain though. Four consecutive 50% sales have been a buyer's dream. :D

Can you tell me a way to defeat m1 thunder? They do Peek-A-boom, and they can 1 shot me, 2 shot me with DD if I use a heavy hull. This is so unfair. And I can't even escape the splash damage. It is even worse if they have an isida.

Go closer to them so they can damage themselves or go further so their damage is decreased, It is good to avoid them also, hiding and waiting is good since most players don't have patience he will come near you and that will be the end of him, or he will lose interest. I suggest you buy a protection module if thunders are annoying you too much.

If you can't beat them, join them.

You can use Titan Smoky, and for every shot they get on you, you can get a couple off on them. If you seriously can not defeat them at all, go to a map where there are less walls, or whatever they use to "Peek-A-Boom" behind, so you have a better chance of killing them.

You are supposed to drive up to them and hug them. If they hit you, they will also hit themselves for a huge chunk of splash damage.

Don't play on maps like Tribute, Desert, Atra without Vulcan... I mean maps which Smoky's damage decreases drastically but Thunder's damage doesn't.

Use smoky to knock-aim, get near and kill.

With Vulcan, try to catch them on open areas.

If they Peek-A-boom on you, just exit from firing sight; they will either move or leave you as you are.

Well, as a Thunder user, I'd say my worst enemies are Railgun, Vulcan and Smoky. Try to use these turrets. If you are more suited to close ranges, use Twins.
