Anyway how was that M2 thunder two-shotting your M1 Hunter? And how did M0 thunder make your d/l go up as opposed to m2 freeze?

Thunders have the raw damage, but they also have the splash damage. They're like a long range firebird with a bigger AoE, higher damage, and infinite ammo. That made me buy an M1 thunder and then MU it, because it's so powerful. My D/L ratio was around 3 while I was playing on the losing team for TDM.

 

1) Firebirds don't do self-damage at close range.

2) Firebirds fire continuously, whereas there is a short space of time between each Thunder shot.

3) Thunders don't have afterburn.

4) Firebirds do more damage than Thunder over the same amount of time.

 

But yeah, Thunder is a great weapon. Buying Bulldozer kit back at Lieutenant Colonel was the best purchase I ever made.

I do agree that Firebird is such a useless weapon right now. Since there's no freeze effect, at high ranks it's hard to keep the flames on the enemy, as you get knocked around with a light hull. The burn, when it was effective, compensated for that. Now it's pretty much "get the alteration unless you are a medium hull that only likes suicidal Poly Cps, etc."

IMO it depends on the player. Some will think rail is the best, and others, me included will think Thunder is the best.

There are what? 10 turrets in tanki? But one of them trumps all the other ones. And that's thunder. Not only is it overpowered gameplay wise, but it makes a huge explosion animation that looks epic.

Thunder M2 2-shots my upgraded Hunter M2 regularly, so it's no surprise that it 2-shots a Hunter M1.

It's not supposed to. My hornet M2 isn't two-shotted by a Thunder M2, and it's barely upgraded. Maybe Full-MU', less hp, or a DD?

M1 Thunder is incredibly OP... Using Double damage it can 2 shot just about any tank in the game (Mine is MUed to 5/50)

I bought Matrix and it is quite frankly beautiful and is working out incredibly good for me. Lol.

Thunder probably has the most people with protection modules against it. That fact alone kinda discourages from me using it in my alt. :/

I don't understand why everyone seems to want Thunder protection. Is Thunder really that common?

 

My guess is that the way the old protective-paints were set up, Thunder protection was common there. Or maybe "younger" users didn't like facing the M3 too early.

Rail and Thunder seem to be very common on medium to large maps.  And yes - could be lots of (popular) legacy modules that had Thunder protection still around.

Occasionally it takes more than two shots but an overwhelming majority of the time this is the case. Thunder M3 takes away more than half my Hunter's health in one shot (which makes it really annoying when I am facing Lieutenant Colonels and Colonels who got it before it was buffed).

How good is Thunder M2? Some say it's terrible, others say it's really good, I think it's just meh but can it rival turrets like Hammer M2 and Smoky M2? Could anyone list the best M2 turrets in order for me?

Thunder m2 is OP at ranks up to the introduction of m3 kits or m3 gear itself obviously. Many lower ranked games involve light or medium hulls which thunder won't have much of a problem with and the splash damage is a plus. There shouldn't really be a list of best to worst as it depends on the player themself, however the top couple turrets at m2 would be smoky, firebird, thunder, twins and hammer coming in close behind them. Not sure where striker fits on the list because I've not tried it at m2 yet. Isida is also fine if you don't mind healing or acting as support whilst being pestered by team-mates who want heals :)

I used it M3 on a Brigadier account once and found it to be pretty effective...
