Wow, early assessment but Thunder definitely got a buf!

It reminds me of the old powerful Thunder when I was stumbling

around with Viking M1 and Cedar.

Good memories!

The slower reload IMO is not a huge issue.

It 's still a pretty fast shooter looking at the massive damage it deals.

And most Thunder players aren 't constantly pushing the spacebar:

nor do they need to.

Haven 't got a clue yet how the nerfing of Splash will work out,

but straight shots at the enemy are stronger.

Planning to go back to Smoky at M3 no matter what, but for now

I guess it 's "healthier" to use my Thunder M3.5 instead of my Smoky M2.

Wishing I had shares/stocks in Thunder paints...

p.s. the proof is in the pudding they say: http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=171431&page=2933&do=findComment&comment=4575477

Wooow! Thunder m4 kills hornet m3 in only 1 shot with double power and mammoth m3 in 2 shots with double power! Amazing! The reload time is a bit too long in my opinion, but the damage Thunder deals really offsets it!

How can that even be possible

Even M4 hammer cant do that

Yeah, this is a definite boost if you're fighing mid-range, and less splash damage also means less self damage. Less useful for polygon, and probably lower DPS, but against light hulls this is a real buff.

Smoky also got a buff if you ask me, since m2 hornet is a 4 shot with no crit. Pretty sure DPS is up too. Lower reload means knocking off a thunder's shot is more rewarding. Smoky is becoming more effective in my opinion, although until I get m2, it won't be my weapon of choice.

My Thunder m3 is not that effective anymore, pre-update, because of the splash damage. That was a huge part of me getting quick points in Polygon Cp and it was easier to get multi kills. And the slow reload is a killer when dealing with freeze and other short range weapons. Before I use to get an extra shot out of dealing with them. Thunder is not as effective anymore for Polygon CPs but still decent

I actually like the Thunder update. I can 3-shot M1 Hunters/Vikings, 2-shot M1 (maybe M2) Hornets, and M2 Hunters/Vikings will go down in 4 shots. The weaker splash damage is a bit disappointing, but it's certainly not bad and still quite powerful.

I was on test server, and I fully MUd the reload speed on the thunder m3, but it was still .03 seconds longer than not MUd m2.

tf?

Thunder became OP ok :P

not that much, the damage is... but its a pain on group killing,

Its more like a 2 ppl who are exactly sticking to each other killing turret :)

AND, I know something better for the matter... FIre or Freeze

I'm not impressed with the thunder reload speed (at least at my level).  I chose thunder so I could have a responsive weapon, but now it feels like a slow-loading railgun (that I no longer use because it's not responsive).  I shoot an opponent, and it seems to be able to hit and kill me with two or three shots before I'm any where near ready to thunder again.  All i feel I'm doing is weakening my opponents for my teammates to score from.  I'm not noticing any difference in damage.

yea I really bough thunder for the splash damage at polygon cp, but know they decreased the plash by so much, its effectiveness and uniqueness has decreased. Now i think smokey is better because it can kill one tank faster then thunder in short to medium range maps such as polygon and sandbox, which is whre I almost battle all the time

The higher damage per shot frees up a lot of rail tactics for using cover.  Especially against smoky since you can absorb a crit easier even if they hit you each time you are exposed.  Trading damage for reload time and splash makes you much more effective when hiding behind a strong team, but less effective on your own when things can get close.  It feels different but it does serve to bridge the gap between long and mid range turrets.

Might as well buy a rail gun then, at least it can inflict more damage and at multiple targets in a straight line. They have nerf the splash damage so bad Thunder is now a single shot/single target line of sight weapon, and you can't blast people hiding behind cover.

Cant agree that much, 4 kills in one shot,

Y right that the splash was nerfed, but srill a beast if used by a savvy user.

Hi Boss,

That was a GOOD lucky shot.  :D , However as you did kill 4 , I will assume you hit one one splashed 3. But you realize Thunder's splash now even at M4 is only (11.5) damage , so three you got  no kill credit or very little for(unless you shot them at some prior time), and of course it is questionable if you got credit for the one you hit.

The removal of max splash damage for 5 meters I think really hurts thunder. I be irritated like all the Vulcan users are.

Woweee, I can't believe you guys are complaining about thunder. It now melts down light hulls as if they were never there. It's much better on sandbox and other small maps due to less self-damage. You gotta admit, it's kinda epic. No?
