Good "jack of all trades" weapon - you can use it at long, medium and short ranges as long as you are smart.

Takes some practice though - the delay allows you to adopt a "fire-then-aim" approach which is a little weird to get used to...

Best weapon.

Yep, I love it :)

I like de weapon but the reload time is long.

First of all, this is the English forum. Speaking English all throughout your posts  is a good idea...

If the reload time was shorter, it would be OP, and it means you need skill to kill enemies, and not die.

First part I kinda agree, but not "jack of all trades", since its not standard simple to use weapon...

You only aim after you fire(press the spacebar)?? You should be aiming when you fire, as your firing, and before you fire...

Rail PWN, I need to go back to it sometime..

You....mean...you STOPPED using it? :o :P

I really like railgun, and it can be used really effectively for more then camping(though I mainly just camp), pwning people with it is just so fun :D

1. Shoot with 2x power at the person closest to Goldbox.

2. Kill enemies in big maps without knowing where you are.

3. Flip/unbalance everyone

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So much more but I'm feeling tired right now. Every time I hear the Railgun charge I fear for my Wasp M1's life! :(

That's why when I'm running with flag and I hear one I'm like Oh darn  .

Ah - on a light hull, that is, and not when sniping.

When you come out from behind cover, having scouted (with turret or page-up/down to verify a target, then yes!

If you pop out, then aim, press space, wait on target for the gun to fire you are toast.

If you rotate your turret to the general direction, press space, pop-out-and-correct-aim-and-fire then retreat, you are not.

Stadium is a good example of where this works well.

Its also effective at close range (again, mounted on a light hull), where you are getting a second shot in as a "drive by" against a larger hull or another railgun.

The turret is usually still rotating to the side when I press fire, and completes the rotation to the target as the railgun discharges.

You guys crack me up, rail nowhere close to best weapon at my rank and up.  I can't even remember the last time I saw a reil owning a game.  Once you get to smoky m2 its dumb to get rail since smoky crit is more powerful than even m3 rail and enemies have no idea where you are when you're shooting them since it doesn't leave a tracer like the rail does.

Yes, but smoky doesn't crit every single shot. Rail (at M3) can hit at almost the same strength as a m2 smoky crit. every time. If rail is used right, the tracer wouldn't be much of a factor. If i shot you at a cross map shot, say from the right side of Kunger at you on the left side. You could go to where you think I was, and I'm not there, because rails have to move a lot even while camping.

well i guess we see things differently, I have rail m2 and smoky m2.  Smoky by far, and its not even close, the better weapon.

P.S. good luck hitting me while I'm shooting you with smoky.

it's easy to hit a smoky that is shooting you.... there are tricks to keeping your rail on target.

I thought I was a pretty good railgunner until I entered a wasp duel with this other guy, and beat me like 5 to 1. He said I'm good with it, but I only wield 20% of its potential. That's awesome, got lot's to learn.

ah, ok.

If your not sniping, then that does work, but you should still be finding your next target before you shoot.

Ahh, I love stadium(havent played new version though, (I think) thats where I got my highest K/D ratio, 99 :D

But yes, I agree when camping you need to aim before firing, it also really helps you not getting much damage, if you quickly go out just as the shot it being fired you shouldnt be hit that much time(due to enemies delayed reaction).

I have used viking to good effect attacking, but a light hull is normally preferable.

Thats good, I have seen many railgun users completely mis-use it :\

Obviously dont play with people of your rank then.

I have often played with people your rank and above, using rail and have done fairly well. I have also seen many epic railgun users your rank and above, which can be so effective in CTF, DM, TDM.

How much is the smoky m2 crit chance? Railgun requires skill, not relying on chance to kill the enemy :P

If you seriously havent seen good rail users, then either you are playing the wrong battles, or there are none :| I often(when I play) see them, and the good ones can be vital in games.

Then you cant be a good railgun user. I have rail m2, and I would like to think that I can do pretty good with it(I would like to think I DID do pretty good with it before RB(which is when I was actually playing a significant amount).

Smoky isnt bad, but I way prefer rail.

If a rail user cant hit you MOST(not all) of the time even with the knocback from another weapon, they arent that good.

Smokey and Railgun are pretty even on a light hull; its generally who ever has the tactical/terrain advantage that matters.

Head-to-head on open ground I'd say a good Smokey player has a slight edge at long and mid ranges, and close up its down to manoeuvring.
