Ohh it sure is as a defence weapon... it's just not that good for your rating.

Not mine atleast.

My D/L tends to be higher when using Rail so that's good for the rating - methinks it's just you, SP

Aha, in your dreams. We rarely one-shot Hornets at full health. Not to mention the fact that the faster they are, the faster they get to us. We shoot them, they survive, they're already here next to us. Bam, dead.

what I meant was I will be able to play with my fav turret even with high ranks due to less  mammoth (hope so  ) and you don't need to try and kill any tank as soon as it spawns..just wait for some thunder to attack it once first.kill steal all the way!

how come every time i try to log on the game it goes to the make new account thing instead of the log on thing

Yeah well any speed freeze/isida/firebird gets you get as well (wasp/hornet) so it stays the same...errr..please dont tell me that you need to stop to shoot your rail :)

Strange as it is I see more and more bad rails as the ranks go up.How can you get to brigadier and above and still not learn to turn your turret,no explanation.

I wouldnt even say that the age matters,a 13 year old can master that without a problem.Maybe there will be difference in accuracy, speed and decision making but still those basics should be mastered.

Yeah and one more thing, can anyone explain to me why a lot of people think that railgun can be used with medium/heavy tanks?

Medium/heavy means you dont hit and run,you take shots while being exposed all the time so what you need especially for mammoth and titan is a dps weapon.

Railgun and shaft are the lowest dps weapons in the game.I mean think a little.

I know you may do well with that combo because you drug or fight in a better team but guaranteed you would do better with a dps weapon.

twins for eg.

You can never say that railgun fits better than twins on mammoth.

What do you mean by a dps weapon?

I like to use Rail on bigger maps where I can get a long range shot (like Brest) and I use Thunder on Med. to small maps.

I have not used it in a while though...I will have to start using it more to keep the chops up

Wish you could tell that to my two friends! All three of us have rail m2 and they both have recently bought mammoth m2.And I always have a higher score than them even with hornet m1!

Rail is all about the hide and shoot technique.Wish some tankmen would realize that and save their crystals.

M2 Rail and M2 Mammoth isn't that bad of a combo.

For both of them, it's the same. Camp at a specific spot, using the peek-a-boo technique, right?

The only thing that sets them apart is how much you have to travel. If you like to travel, then Hornet of course. Because you'll get to your desired location faster, shoot more, and thus earn more points.

If you don't need to travel, say in Medium-Small maps, then Mammoth of course.

I've used Mammoth/Rail and it works better than other Hornets in DM's and CTF. For CTF I camp at specific places. For TDM though it's more of a competition. In TDM is matters about which map you're playing in. . .

It's the turret that you will commonly find in almost all maps.. so automatically we conclude that it's very powerful but can be more dangerous if given in the hands of a guy who knows how to use it perfectly.....!!

What do you use mostly splitterpoint?

I think Smoky... love the chance of criticals.

I use Thunder pretty often aswell, and have no problem shooting with those two.

Railgun needs timing, I was never really good at that.

When I first joined ARC (I'm sad its gone) I had a training where I had to spin the hull and time the shot then I had to spin the hull and turret in the same direction and time the shot. With hornet after a couple seconds of turning every thing in the same direction it starts moving very fast and is very difficult to time the shot...I could not move on to the next "training " until I hit him with the spinning shot. It made me a lot better though and I have no problem timing and shooting on the move. (most of the time)

Try that exercise in training it will help with your timing and of course "peek a boo"

I disagree with both these statements.ya I know that mammoth can take more damage and can easily destroy two tanks but this factor changes when there are hiding spots all around.I have destroyed so many heavy tanks just due to the mobility that hornet provides.

This includes shooting at a tank and then deceiving it by going around the same place (with the help of camera controls ) when it comes after you.

Mammoth on the other hand can just stand in one place hoping to get its shot right. And need I remind you that the only way to kill a pro smoky player is to use the delay in shooting time while coming out if cover.sorry for double posting !

Huh, then those must not be very smart heavy tanks. I find Hornet a very poor choice of Peek-a-boo tactic. It's too wide. With my camera I can depict when it is coming out to shoot, and I charge before him, thus shooting the edge of his tank. I can do it even from far ranged too.

For Smoky you need luck. My Electra has 10% Smoky protection. Believe me, it helps immensely. Smoky M2's shoot me 15 times and still no critical. Not a lie. Then an M1 Smoky comes and shoots me with 2 critical hits.

Seems like we battle with different people. Or we just have different play-styles. Even if Mammoth/Rail seems like an unlikely combo- well that's the good thing about it. Hidden potential. Hard for majority to get their hands on, but if you manage to, then it'll be real fun.

^ Hornets too wide? Its not that much to be a poor choice for peek-a-boo tactic. Wasp is probably the only one thats less wide than hornet (significantly). So all the rest of the hulls except wasp arent good in that tactic? IMO viking is very wide. Too wide for that, thats for sure.

You forgot Dictator. And yep. Hornet can get shot in the front, or at its tail very easily. I can time when a Hornet/Railgun is going to expose itself. And when it does, guess what? If they do come out, they get shot by me and miss. If they don't come out, they shoot a wall.

Oh yes. Dictator is a very easy target. Atleast viking is flat :p

I guess sometimes thats true. Although an expert knows how to shoot right like me with hornet/rail and gets the job done in any situation. :) Noobs miss all that time because of that.

In my view Viking is more of a tank that you'd use bracing attacks and going upfront or middle-field.

Dictator however, with the height advantage, from the mid-field to all the way back where it can fire over-head of objects such as other tanks.

I find if you use Wasp well and use the unstableness to your advantage, you can do some very creative or unexpected things. Such as a smoky keeps shooting you when you have Rail/Wasp. On multiple occasions I miss the target I was aiming for, but I end up hitting another enemy and killing him. Haha. :P

And with the unstableness, you can hit smaller/harder/overlooked spots easier. ..
