How tf do you defend from backstabbing? It's the most frustrating thing ever, everything's all fine and dandy, and suddenly some close-range weapon comes up and BAM im done for. No time even to fight back; if i miraculously do get a shot off it's not lethal.

That's why there is camera control ( Q & E for me ), just move camera up and you won't suffer much from that; backstabbing is also a thing due to positionning... it only does become problematic when u enter sniping mode on Shaft... bcz you can't use camera anymore

But that means you also cant see anything 15m away either

I’m thinking of buying railgun but doesn’t it have heck loads of protection against it? Could anyone fill me in on how common rail gun protection modules are these days? I expect it must have changed(haven’t used since 2014).

P.s: Too lazy to look at wiki but can rail still one shot wasps of same modification?

15m is better then dying without knowing from where the shot came .-.

I know where it comes from; it's not hard to trace back a stream of fire or an isida beam. The issue is that usually by the time they're that close, it's too late. I'm asking about how i can avoid getting into this situation in the first place, and if i do get in this situation, some tips for trying to get out of it (or at least leave my mark)

What's the best Railgun hull for each M level?

You know that there cant be best

Choose the hull based on your playstyle

If you like to be mobile choose Wasp/Hornet

And  on mid hulls Viking goes well cause it sits low

Dictator has the best stabilty , means your shots can't be shaken

Hunter sits in between them

If you like to camp in one place and shott like Shaft go for Titan/Mammmy

Kill them before they reach you

You are a railgun , a long range gun , Have a good eye on the surroundings

I think wasp is the best hull for rail.  totally hands down.   the only caveat being if you're having a bad day you're gonna die a lot!

Well its player's choice

but it is Wasp speed come handy you land a shot then find a cover

Repeat again it's nice

Find a camping spot and protect it with mines

Mines. Always try to have a mine in front of you and a mine behind if you are in a hide and are going to pop out.

Railgun is unusable without alterations. Funny how you need to buy alterations to use it the way it used to exist earlier. And the randomness in damage has ruined XP/BP because of constant random 3 shot killing. Buy 2 alterations worth 100k each to get old railgun back? Not to mention how almost everyone uses protection from it regardless there is a railgun in the battle or not.

100k can be 50k on sale. At either price that is a small amount of of the overall cost to build a full garage. If you can't sewing it at your rank don't blame the game.

Evry weapon has it's characteristics. One of Railgun's is "variable damage". If you do not like that characteristic then eaither buy the alteration or buy a weapon more suited to your likes.

Just why do you think so many people use Railgun protection? Possible answers:

1] Railgun protections are used often because Railgun is a weak weapon which concerns very few players.

2] Railgun protections are used often because Railgun is a strong weapon which has many players concerned.

Is the "Faster Horizontal Tracking" Modification (+35% turn speed, -30% vertical auto-aim (in both directions)) worth the 50,000 crystals?

It will be good in a plain map like desert , on maps which have elevation's it's bad

also 50k is 25k on 50%sale

Variable damage hasn't always existed. I am trying to bring the attention to the fact that they put balance changes to railgun, which nerfs it, and add alterations for which you have to pay 100k crystals (on sales) to have it work like it used to. Same with twins, add self damage and put alteration to overcome it.

Alterations were advertised by tanki as a way to add variety in the way we use turrets - sounds great, I welcome such an idea, but in this case, that's not what is happening.

Or in other words, you buy a car. The company takes your car for a day and makes some tweaks to it. The next day you find that the so called 'tweaks'  worsens the performance and you call the customer service and they suggest you to pay some amount for them to fix your car back to normal.

This is the same that happened to railgun in a series of updates. I don't see how that doesn't affect anyone's performance.

Either, they shouldn't play with the word 'game-balance' or they should just accept they are looking for ways to have us spend more crystals.

And, railgun's features can be adjusted for XP/BP, like they do it for dictator-rail. But they don't. Amount of XP/BP battles has considerably decreased.

You have to realize that your opponent has the same chance as you do of needing 3 shots to kill...

The rebalance of Railgun that reduced its burst damage in return for faster reload was kind of disheartening to me as well, since it took away the possibility of one-shotting light hulls, which means Railgun has a harder time defending itself (and stealing kills). But now that I'm getting the hang of Railgun and actually finding success with it, I'm kind of starting to think that maybe the devs were right to make that change after all. However I would not complain at all if the devs reverted that change

I hear a lot of people saying Railgun is underpowered in M2 and above but as I've only played M0 and M1 battles idk.

It's not underpowered at m2, you just need a hull with good stability and know how to use the turret.

oof M2 Viking Stable ?

Go againsit a Rico/Smoky/Twins and you will see how stable it is

and don't forget Thunder which will make you miss when you shoot

Oh if you have good timing don't bother Viking is good choice cause it sit's low has a low profile

If stablitly is what you are looking Viking is not the one

If fun is your #1 concern then I salute you. OTOH you don't care then that the devs assigned "wide variability" to this weapon. Fun is why I play Vulcan / Wasp even though Conventional Wisdom was that combo is lame.

Yes I see you are aware teh devs re-designed many weapons about 2 yeears ago.  You are the latest in countless railgun users who wants their turret returned to the old OP system but the other 12 turrets stay as they are so railgunners can just become rekking machines.  Golly what a goo...HELL NO!

Been down his path 100 times. The okld system is gone. They are not going to return the old system for one gun out of 13. Get over it.

I agree the alterations project is 80% joke and 20% success. But that is not an excuse to redesign railgu. It is a reason to give usable alts to Vulcan or alts at all to Striker and Magnum. Bu it is not a reason to re-design railgun.

Awww.... XP/BP has decreased?  Aw3ww I am sooooo sadddddd.  Boo hoo.  Thank goodness teh special modes TO has put in for MY turrets are still going strong.,  There's SV for Smoky/Viking, there's VW for Vulcan/Wasp, and ST for Striker/Titan.  Thank fodness these special easy ways to make Cry for MY turrets still exis... oh wait there never was any special advantage given to MY turrets.

Imagine my concern then for %$%$#ing Xp/BP.
