btw I have beaten nearly every weapon combo 1v1 with rail hornet m2 and m3.... I even almost beat a firebird viking m3 on ISLAND with RAIL PROTECTION and I had NO PROTECTION....with my m2 rail hornet; he won 4-5 and was trying very hard.

 

So why is it with all this skill that I am not dominating in normal battles? I'll tell you why; Railgun is UNDERPOWERED PERIOD.

Do you play with railgun at all? If you do then you will see what I am talking about, you are at a rank where your railgun may have more upgrades than your fellow tankers... What I am saying is that if all tanks in a battle are of equal Mu's; M4 20/20 for example..... then the railgun will always be the underdog... ESPECIALLY when protection modules are used... btw I think tanki should add a game mode where you cannot use protection modules, to simplify the game and introduce a more tactical aspect, kind of like xp/bp but for all weapons.

 

Here is an experiment for you; try using railgun and hornet and do a 1v1 battle against someone else with hornet and any weapon of their choice and you will see how limited railgun is, and If it is so dang hard to use I think that it deserves more damage per shot.(I can beat most players with rail 1v1 when they use other weapons because of my xp/bp skills... that should tell you how unfair this whole thing is if I am last place on the losing team most of the time when playing with rail in sandbox 4v4... yet I can crush people 1v1 even with protection; but it just makes the game LONGER, GET IT YET?)

 

As for the alterations being OP I explained above how they are NOT OP.... but I haven't tried hyperspace rounds yet....so maybe there is hope :).

Using hornet with railgun is practically shooting yourself in the foot except when play in xpbp battles.

 

The reason why is because hornet has such low health combined with the fact that it's unstable meaning turrets like smoky, ricochet, thunder, and hammer can easily knock off your aim before you can fire a shot, causing you to miss.

 

And you should get other turrets as well, not just railgun.

Poor thunder, all it got was lame stuff.

 

Looks like devs had mostly railgun and smoky in mind when creating the alterations, since they have the most unique and interesting ones.

I play Railgun and from what I've seen so far it's one of the strongest turrets in Tanki. 

 

The reason it may seem underpowered is because of broken protection modules

 

Agreed, when most of the players have protection against it, you get used to low damage figures like they're it's actual stats.

 

But thankfully it has cool alterations that change this: HCR, Round destabilization, and Hyperspace rounds can make it much more deadly. Also Round stabilization is very cheap and greatly improves its minimum damage and penetration making it reliable and useful.

Standard Thunder is OP enough

I have M2 10/10 railgun, and it is my second most used turret. And here is the main thing, I don't play xp/bp. 95% of my playing time with it has been in normal battles. Sure, i ave better stats with twins, but if Rail was as weak as you say, would I have kept using it? NO! Even standardrail can be used effectively, though alterations raise it to a completely different level. high caliber ammo literally has better stats than the old railgun everyone wants back. And now with all these other cool alterations, there is no reason Rail can't be competitive. Just use Dictator or Hunter.

Yeah many people use light hulls with railgun making it weaker, at higher ranks people have railgun protection making it very weak because of long reload, railgun is one of the most common protections similar to thunder

Preferably on hunter more though. Dictator just bounces all over the place IMO. Which sometimes made it hard to hit the target especially when being under attack.

Personally I'd much rather prefer they just fix the module system instead of just adding OP alterations to hide the problem.

Definitely, but the thing here is that fixing this problem is more difficult than you'd imagine.

 

 

* Nerfing the modules is something that I'd personally like, but it would cause a huge backlash from the people who spent the exorbitant amount of 1m crystals to upgrade them.

* Only allowing a certain number of modules per turret in a battle would basically be the game controlling what you can, and can't do.

* Significantly buffing Railgun's damage means equipping the Large caliber rounds alteration would turn it into a nightmare for people who can't afford the module at M2+

 

I would suggest buffing its minimum damage by a certain debatable amount and keeping its maximum damage the same. This should keep Railgun's damage not too powerful or too weak, meaning it would be more satisfying to use it even with many modules around.

 

 

Hopefully the devs could find a solution for this soon, since I can't recall the last time Railgun had undergone a decent balance change.

Just switch stats to old railgun before it was nerfed, high impact that flips light hulls and can 1 shot wasp and hornet

That would be nice :p

Railgun m4 should do 1500-2100 damage with 6.5 second reload 

 

so like 1800 average damage won't always 1 shot hornet/wasp

 

Impact should be 700

Unless if it's an xpbp battle, a railgun will always equip double damage

 

And unless the enemy is well protected against it, they won't stand a chance.
