Rail for me is like the best weapon that i could ever possess. Sure smoky can be annoying at times, but lets say its smoky and rail in monte carlo. Damn the smoky would have no chance. NO chance at all.

However annoying smoky's shot is, there are actually several ways to counter smoky's shots. Also, in sandbox ctf, I hardly see anyone using any other weapon for 1 on 1. So i believe that also shows rail is more popular. BUt in a nutshell. Everyone has their preferences, but for there's only one gun that will always win my heart and that will always be railgun :)

Nice, but keep in mind at high ranks "everybody" has railgun protection and smoky users are more skilled at knocking railguns off aim.

But... that means there are also those people who know how to do this...

Since Tanki likes Railgun so much, I have an idea...

Delete all the turrets except for Dictator, Wasp, Hornet, and Railgun and stick with that. I bet you'd still be making as much money as before.

What do u think guysss?

The salt is real!

In all seriousness, I think he's just joking guys, the devs aren't that stupid.

Right?

Since Tanki likes Railgun so much

Delete all equipment except for Wasp, Hornet, and Railgun.

Get rid of modules too. Then re-introduce Smoky XT, automatically given the impact force increasing alteration for double the price and sit back and enjoy.

So Railgun is OP now. HURRAY

Only against light hulls, which you might see a lot of at your rank. But at the highest ranks there's much more medium hulls.

In addition, Railgun is terrible against heavy hulls. Try fighting a heavy-hull drugger with railgun.

Railgun now has actual sustained damage which it never did before.Besides i do see a lot of medium hulls, many enemies i have to hit 3-4 times to kill. The changes allow Railgun to have a much more aggressive style instead of just camping and taking shots from mid-long range.

in the past I could kill a medium hull with 2 shots (TTK aprox 6 seconds).. now I need 3 shots (TTK aprox 11 seconds).

For me the gameplay was more agressive in the past. It allowed me to play tactically better in attacks, as I could take enemies out, instead of just telling them where I am.

but I understand that in your ranks the number of non-camping railgunners was pretty low before the update.

Before the update if you missed a shot you were 8 out of 10 times dead for sure. (unless you were camping/people weren't paying attention). Now it's not like that anymore. Higher DPS is almost always better than Higher damage per shot.I am also assuming you're using Shell Stabilization because without it i think Railgun is just a "hit or miss". The RNG factor for damage is just too inconsistent.(for me at least)

If you miss you were dead.. but this is still the same. That's the downside of rail, and this is the reason why players with rail have a very good aim once they played it long enough. That was ok.

The DPM stayed about the same before/After update, there is not much of a differnce.

But DPM is not the most important thing - for me TTK (time to kill) together with my exposure time is way more important:

Think of it: you can use the high DPM only as long as you are alive.

Your active-time on the battlefield is as longer, as more efficiently you prevent from beeing hit.

Sure camping is no solution (as it gives you no flags) but a clever use of cover is very, very important, in order to survive and have a high active-time with your turret.

Even if I attack, I have to stop in midfield or close to their base and weaken the oponents by multiple shots. A turret that deals more DPM but has a constant exposure (like Twins) can not do this. He reveils his position with the first bullet and is taken under fire. A Railgunner that shoots from the flank of an enemy base reveils his position too, but then he hides and reloads while the enemy comes close. In the meanwhile the railgunner moves to other corner of his hireout, shots him a second time and has the kill - while he has still full health. But with killing Vikings in 3 shots this can not be done any more.

A Twins has more DPM, but will lose half it's health or more during killing an opponent. So DPM is not everything.

Even pilots that mastered a Rico (which has a high damage per Clip ->> but a very low DPM) do not stand right infront of their enemy, but try hard to make them miss or use the rico effect. Why? This makes them survive.

Shorter TTK + low exposure rate makes you surive longer.. and this is much more usefull then just DPM.

Up to now I do not use the Rail Stabilisation, as I lack the crystals to do so. I will most likely buy it later on.

*cough* Shaft. Also, what about Thunder? Thunder has 50% weak damage for distances greater than 140 meters but Vulcan has only 25%....

See Claudiu's videos. or search "Which is the best weapon in Tanki Online"(at the top) then u will find out.

There is no "best weapon". If you want to see professional Railgun players, watch some youtube videos of the old starladder clan wars.... Railgun just displays skill the easiest, but for all you know that firebird player over there may be a pro, just it doesn't come out when he/she is using firebird.

Anyway, I was merely correcting your statement that Railgun and Vulcan are the best long-range weapons.

Good "jack of all trades" weapon - you can use it at long, medium and short ranges as long as you are smart.

Takes some practice though - the delay allows you to adopt a "fire-then-aim" approach which is a little weird to get used to...

Nice, I use this method all the time to cross-map snipe people. All the time they're like "What happened?"
