I have firebird m1 on this acc and m3+ on main acc. It used to be a great turret, but since you can't bake two or more enemies in row, and since you can't even bake anyone, I see no point in using it. Now, when it comes to massive damage on short range, no1. Turret for me is freeze, or even twins.

I'm not sure what to do with my firebird now, I'll probably just let him chill a while in garage till he gets some serious buff again.

It's on purpose so people buy the alteration.

No, I like burnless firebird (not mine though :lol: ). Easy to bully with my Freeze.

The sad thing about this is that before this nerf firebird was a really fearsome enemy. Now I don't even bother to escape from its range.... Edited December 19, 2016 by filipiar

Yeah, the afterburn is a misnomer. After the update I at most get the burning effect for 3 seconds after I stop shooting (as opposed to the claimed >15 seconds in the stats for my upgraded M2). Also I only do 1-10 damage per click for the burn (and the burning effect numbers for some odd reason only show once per second instead of 4 times per second). I have never killed a tank since the update off of my burn before (not very realistic since an intense fire doesn't simply go out instantaneously after doing minimal damage, especially when we're talking about a flamethrower).

Well it increases exponentially. For example, after reaching max temperature, an M3 fire inflicts 780 hp of cumulative damage through afterburn. The M4 inflicts 1200 hp through afterburn, an increase of over 50%. So the increase is more and more between higher and higher modifications. :) However, when this equation is applied, M0, M1, have non-existent burn, and M2 has very weak burn.

No, it's not. Unless you have the crystals to upgrade it to M4 soon.  "Afterburn" is a bit misleading. ;)

Well, I recently purchased it with the Alteration, and it works like magic :). Never have I earned so much xp in such a short time.

My Firebird M2 is now 41/50. The burn is still almost nothing even at that level. I don't think it'll be decent until at least M4 level. Damage is roughly ~400 per 4 clicks now on a good day.

It seems like you need the Firebird alteration  :) To be honest, I have the feeling that the Firebird alteration is now more common than a stock Firebird. I am quite happy if I encounter a Fire guy without the alt., so I don't have to fear him very much  :P

I'm going to wait on the alteration because currently the M3 version doesn't exist (I may want that alteration even more). Still, I am of the opinion that alterations should not be required to make the turret capable of competing with the other turrets. Rather, I believe alterations should exist to change certain qualities of the turret (but overall the turret should not be buffed or nerfed in the process).

Yes you are right, it should be this way. But at the moment it is definitely not the case, because the alteration is stronger than the normal turret. Considering the M3 alteration is an option. Yes I am also already saving up some crystals for them. If you want to buy it, I expect that you will then probably need around 430k-480k crys (with a 50% discount on Turrets and alterations you will probably need around 250k crys), because you have to get M3 before too.

Okay, I know this is an old question, but....

 

 

I used Firebird-M2 50/50 once I reached 2nd LT (Firewall Kit) but I hooked it up to my Viking-M1/M2 and used Spark paint/protection in Polygon CP battles - long before the 2016 Fall Update & Alterations. It was a BEAST. In tight quarters where speed is nullified (like the flag bases in Esplanade) you can easily dispatch multiple enemy tanks. 

 

I used to want Prometheus. But the update *coughnerfcough* was just too much it made Firebird feel like a totally different weapon overall. The penetration power more than made up for its short range. It is no longer a feared weapon.

The update leveled the M3 equipment to one rank (Marshal) but left the kit rank rules intact. In 3 rank-ups I would be able to get M3 kits. I guess they figured it would mean more sales since it seems a bit slow for everyone to get beyond Marshal.

Wow... gone are the days when firebird unlocked at Commander. No wonder the average player has deserted this game.

My Firebird M2 is now up to 49/50 on MUs. It finally does decent damage to just barely compete with the stock M2 turrets but the burn is still terrible and wouldn't even cook my eggs runny. At close range its damage is about the same as a stock Thunder M2.
